Mixing some loose plastics in a ziplock?

I'm getting packed for a week long fishing trip on my motorcycle and I have about 30 bags of plastics (worms, creatures, swimbaits, frogs, etc..) some opened, some new in my money bag. There are certain plastics or colors for which I bring 1-2 full bags of but the majority I actually only need 2-3 individual plastics of. The brands I have are mostly Zoom and Yamamoto Senkos. I was thinking about making a few quart ziplocks with 1-3 of these random ones which should actually cut down my total bag count/volume by around 50%.

 

Curious if anyone has had any luck doing something like this to minimize the number of bags they need to carry? I know some plastics manufactures don't mix well with other brands but I assume I should be able to at least mix non-like colors of the same brand in similar bags? Zoom Horny Toads don't come in molds but Rage Tails do and I think I need to keep those guys in molds in molds even if just for a week or so?

Zman elaztech doesn't play nice with other plastics.  I would highly advise keeping them in the original bag, away from the rest.

I don't have any Zman elaztechs. Is your advice to keep them all separate no matter the brand or just ensure I keep Zman elaztechs separate from the rest?

Cosigning this. DO NOT mix elaztech with plastisol in the same package. You gotta keep 'em separated.

 

Also expect some color bleed when you do mix soft plastics that won't melt each other. I've got a bag of beautiful, lavender Zoom grubs, because I put white grubs in the same bag as junebug. Whether that's a problem or not I leave up to the reader (the fish don't seem to care).

I mix baits in fewer bags for bank fishing.  Color bleed does happen.  Otherwise I've encountered no other ill effects.  I gravitate toward 3 main color groups, and mix my plastics based on color not profile.

I would tend to think that you'd be fine mixing them as long as none are zman.  As stated above you may see some color fade or bleed, especially if you have dark colors mixed with white.  The white ones could fade darker.

 

Keep zman separate from everything else.  I keep mine in the original packaging.

-week-long trip, you may not even get noticeable color bleed.  Even if you do, it is usually slow and subtle, and you get the benefit of unique custom colors

-don't worry at all about Rage Tails out of clamshells.  Soft swimbaits and flukes can get kinked, but craws and rage bugs and cut-r's are very immune to kinks and bends.  I keep Rage Bugs in ziplocks for months

-as mentioned several times, keep the elaztech separate. 

- zip locks are fine.  Some hard plastics, like clear boxes that Rattle Traps used to come in can and will melt from many soft plastics contact

Everybody covered it above.  Your color bleed will probably depend on temps as well.  If they're not going to be hot it'll take longer for that to happen.  Enjoy!
