Super User fishfordollars Posted March 4, 2010 Super User Posted March 4, 2010 I bought this little cheap reel several years ago just on a whim. Not sure where or why I even purchased it. I rigged it up to throw my wacky worms with and matched it with a 6'6" American Rodsmith AT-66MHC. One of the best purchases I ever made. I abuse it and other than a drop of oil on the spool shaft once or twice a year I have never had a minutes trouble with it. Figured it would be a catchup if I ever needed a spare reel in a pinch. It just keeps on working. It's the reel that just gets left in the bottom of the rod locker and only sees the light of day after I hit the water. Surprised me. Quote
Pinnacle1 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Fishfordollars: Thanks for your recent post. For the money, it's hard to beat the Solene SLP10 baitcaster. As you discovered, the performance and durability of this reel rivals that of much more expensive models offered by our competitors. We're glad, but not surprised, to hear that you have unexpectedly become a fan of the Solene. Your reel should continue to provide you with many years of reliable service out on the water. Good Fishing! Pinnacle1 Quote
kikstand454 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 im going to agree totally about the solene. if you can find one cheap.... it is a great reel. i have been through three of them now and have gave two away that are still working fine (even in saltwater). the last one im still using for paddletails and the like. it had more bearings in it than the other two... not sure what the difference was... but i love it. its a great little reel. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I just cleaned and lubed one of these for a customer and was impressed with the smoothness and free-spool and to a lesser extent the drag. IMO a good choice at the price point. Quote
flippinout Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I bought 10 of these reels over 4 years ago and love them! They've performed perfectly for me and I like the small size for palming. I do have a couple that the anti-backlash bearing is going out on but that is expected after several years of hard use. I also had to replace a couple thumbars but the folks at Pinnacle were extremely helpful and parts were promptly shipped. I'll never use another reel brand as long as Pinnacle is around. Quote
The Rooster Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Chances are, even if you did use another brand, it might still be a Pinnacle underneath the "other" brand name. ;D Quote
kild1 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 yup its a gr8 reel i caught my biggest bass ever on a solene a 12lb largemouth drag worked perfect Quote
procraft210 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 good reels for the price, I have one I have been using for a couple years now. Quote
Michael_Co Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Hey all, I just picked up a reel from my brother and whenever I tighten the tighten the drag it makes the reel super hard to turn, then when I back it off I have no drag. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks, Michael Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted June 27, 2024 Super User Posted June 27, 2024 Something in the driveshaft stack is worn enough, it's causing the shaft to bottom out when you (over)tighten the drag knob. The obvious place to look are the drag washers, on each side of the main gear, which are made to wear. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 28, 2024 Super User Posted June 28, 2024 What a resurrection! Michael, a new thread would have gotten more people looking to help. You are lucky bulldog1935 stopped by. BTW, my only experience with Pinnacle reels is the Primmus HS Xi. All I can say is that I am very sorry it is no longer in production. Same can be said for Pflueger baitcast reels. Way underrated. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 This is somewhat common. Easy fix: take the handle and drag star off and set the AR clutch (C065) a little deeper into the side plate. This allows the spring washers to press on the top of the AR sleeve without binding. One more word of caution: pinnacle parts are virtually impossible to find anymore. Don’t lose or break anything.
