Is the 2020 Met B worth it now that the Curado 150 is out for 1/2 the $$$? Curado has basically same overall weight, same spool weight, lower profile etc. Honest thoughts?  I can grab a second hand Met B for not much more than a new Curado.

Thanks!

What’s the curado, $200? You can get the Met on digitaka for $255. No brainer for $55 more imo.
Definitely not worth It for usdm prices though.

Seriously, what is up with US prices?  I would say inflation but I can buy a USDM reel like a tatula elite or tatula 200 in USD for considerably less on chinease site.  It's not an exchange rate thing because I am buying in dollars.  I don't understand.

Yeah but scorpion is supposed to be JDM Curado and then that goes by JDM prices. So if we convert everything over to JDM, he’d still be saving considerable money going for the Curado equivalent.

I have no idea if the metanium is worth it though. Good luck

I don’t think the scorpion has been redone with the new things the curado 150 has

The Scorpion MGL is built in the Curado K frame. The Curado 150 MGL is a new platform and has no JDM version that I know of.

I really like the Curado MGL but if I was paying full price I'd spend the little extra and get a Met from Japan.

I get It. For some reason I can’t stand the met 19. Bring back the 16!

Just know JDM version does not have brass gears like US version.

unless I am mistaken it is only the shallow spool edition that uses an alloy main gear set.

My JDM Met's have brass gears

I own both and honestly would go Curado. I absolutely love mine. I also love my Metanium, but I don't think it's $200+ better. I likely won't buy another Metanium, but will buy more Curados.

Let me introduce you to jdm, my friend.

I already bought the Met, it cost me $100 more. I'm pretty satisfied. It's hard to justify a Met at USDM prices and hard to justify a curado with the Met at JDM prices.

Prices aside though I was mostly curious about how they differed in functional sense.

So far the solidity of the frame and X-ship go a long way towards the feel of the reel. And the tolerances all around just feel way more exact. It is very nice.

But I swear my curado has a slightly greater max distance, especially throwing lower weights. And that reel requires less braking to boot. I'm sure I'm going to get slayed for this opinion. Lol

Queue: max distance isn't everything, and you don't know how to set up your Metanium, get gud!

Do you get more casting distance with the curado? Do you feel it has more reliable brakes (even though it is the same design?) L. I definitely do after taking them both out today. I'm very surprised by this.

I'm wondering if I need to tune the Met a little more. I admit I find judging the spool tension very difficult on that reel.

I think met outcasts the Curado by a hair but it's pretty negligible imo

I'm aware of JDM and own a few JDM reels. They have small changes to their reels that I don't like (smaller handles, smaller knobs, aluminum gears, etc) so I don't buy them anymore

They do not have aluminum gears and you can change a handle really cheaply. Just pointing out that you can certainly own a Metanium for less than $200 difference like you said. More like $50.

Also, I can’t tell the difference in 90mm and 100mm handle at all.
