I was reorganizing my lipless cranks from my past fishing tip last week.  Found out I lost 3/4 of them due to heat.   I’ve been using these boxes for the past three years and had no issues.  The Corton Cordell’s swelled the most.  The Rat-L-Traps bubbled and have a slight curve to them and the V Raps split.  Makes me sick….

I am visiting my sister in Austin TX this week and I have never been in heat like this... i can see how tackle would die in a place like this

I didn't even think that could happen. That's insane. Btw, what boxes are you using? Those look super useful.

That is wild. We’ve all heard of Zman elaztech turning into a gooey mess in the heat, but I can’t say I’ve heard of hardbaits getting ruined.

I have fished on some hot days and never seen anything like this. How hot was it? Was the box sitting on a boat deck exposed to the sun all day?

The worst I have seen on a hot day was my buddy's Crocs melting to his feet. It was actually kind of funny because he thought I gave him a hot foot.  The back of his black Crocs had melted to the point where the rubber dripped to center of his foot and started to stick.

They’re Plano 3700 edge boxes.   I have two with with my lipless cranks.   Each box was sitting in the in the side cubby’s of my boat.  The whole week we were fishing it didn’t get over 85 degrees.

Serves him right for wearing those dumb things fishing. Black of all colors on a hot day too!

My compartments get hot when the sun beats down on them for hours.  When I reached for my mid depth crank box today, I had to drop it a second after I picked it up, it was that hot.  The high temp today was 81, but I'd bet the temp in that compartment was 110+

One reason why I take all my tackle out of my boat, it's stored outside.  I lost a couple of  Big O's a while back due to swelling.

Don't fish them in that condition.  If you do, I guarantee you will start catching bass like crazy with one of the most damaged ones you have.  You may even catch your new PB.  After loosing the one  magical bait, you will go through hundreds of crankbaits, and three microwave ovens trying to duplicate it.  By the time you realize it is impossible to get one to swell exactly the same way, it will be to late to go swimming for the one you lost.

I swear I’ve had some hard baits that I couldn’t keep out of fishes mouths. When you loose that one the exact same replacement just doesn’t seem to work the same way.
