Super User LrgmouthShad Posted June 18, 2023 Super User Posted June 18, 2023 Okay it's been a while since I've used fluoro so I had to refresh myself on invisx. It does cast very well. The sensitivity is incredible. Gets a bit unruly over the course of the day which is probably why people bring KVD L&L with them. I kinda remembered why I use cheap mono when I made a bold cast into some trees and got tangled up and then had to cut large sections of my line off because of fraying and was left with a lot less line on the spool. It is good line, just like I remember it from a few years ago. I tied careful palomars on it. I did get to straighten it out on a few fish. Will I continue using it for t-rigs and jigs? I dunno. My wallet says no. Bait monkey says yes 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 18, 2023 Super User Posted June 18, 2023 Stop messing around and just load up on Tatsu. Amazon has very competitive prices on bulk spools of both InvisX and Tatsu. A-Jay 4 3 Quote

JediAmoeba Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 This is why 99% of what I do is braid to leader. Quote

ALL fluorocarbon has severe memory issues. It's not less visible than mono. It costs 3-10x as much. It becomes permanently stretched under load. Knot strength is abysmal. But hey..keep spending money on hype. It IS your money to waste after all. KVD won't fix fluorocarbon's drawbacks 4 Quote

Cbump Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Invisx is great Line. I use It interchangeably with Sniper. 1 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted June 19, 2023 Super User Posted June 19, 2023 Fished a couple spools of Invisx and went back to Red Label. Not enough difference to support to price difference. I did catch a 13.44 on 12 lb Red Label. 2 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 19, 2023 Super User Posted June 19, 2023 Invizx is a really good line and I always found it to be very manageable but a little more stretchy than some other fluoros. Sniper is my go to but I've used Invizx a lot too. I use fluoro for all bottom contact applications, copoly for moving baits and braid for frogging and heavy vegetation. They all have their place for me. I've never found fluoro's memory to be a huge issue. Its sensitivity for bottom contact baits and slack line is worth whatever drawbacks it has, for me. 3 Quote
GReb Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Invisx is great up to 12 lbs. I’ve used 15 and 17 and didn’t care for it. But what do I know Quote
T2DM Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I'm a long time Sunline user but I can't wait to try the new Mastiff when it becomes available. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 19, 2023 Super User Posted June 19, 2023 The late Aaron Martens got me started on Sunline Shooter in the really 90’s, 300 meter spools for $35. This started a love/ hate relationship with FC line. Liked the lure feed back using jigs and bottom bumping lures, hated the knot strength regardless of the knot used. Also didn’t like the dry line spring off the spool, not from memory but difficult to manage. Started using Tangle Free I had for mono spinning spinning reels and that solved the dry line issue. Nothing has ever solved knot strength issues. Tried every brand known to man and Tatsu or Shooter are equal and perform good so stayed with brands. Tom 1 Quote

Cbump Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Why is It that some people act like their knots break every cast on fc or that fc has so much memory that it’s unmanageable, and others have none of those issues after using It for 10+ years? I didn’t even know what kvd line conditioner was until this forum and will never use It. You’ll also never see me out tying line to a tree to pre-stretch It lol. Buy red label, invisx, sniper, sunline bms, p-line, put on reel while spool rolls around the house as I reel It on, tie lure on with improved clinch, go fishing with no problems. Weird… 5 Quote

Weird… Yeah, Invisx did get a bit unruly like I said, but still very manageable. Also, you should use KVD L&L. Don’t look at it as a necessity. Look at it as a bonus. I promise you, it helps, and you will cast farther and smoother. 1 Quote

Weird… Do you use spool tension on your reels? I wonder of that helps to slow the spool and tame stiff line. Quote

On my Daiwas I set spool tension to have a slight side to side movement. On my shimano and Lews I set to where the lure just starts to fall. Quote

If you want to experience the bad manageability issue others have with flouro then set up the non daiwas the same as the daiwas. You'll get a much more free casting reel without the rod tip loading on the cast however the slinky that is heavier flouro will become difficult to work with. Quote

Why would I want to do that if It casts fine without manageability issues the way I have It? I have my live scope set out to 65 ft. There’s not a setup in my box that I can’t cast beyond that and work back to my target. Quote
