Does pinnacle make the reels for Bass Pro Shops? Specifically the Extreme and Pro Qualifier models. If so which model pinnacle reel are the Bass Pro reels modeled after?

Wouldn't know about the Bass Pro Shops reels, they bear a striking resemblence, internally speaking, to Pure Fishing reels.

I do know that some of the Gander Mtn. branded reels are exactly the same as corresponding Pinnacles.  Not surprising in this global economy...platform sharing has been part of the auto industry for over 50 years, why not the tackle industry?

CFF 1.5,

Thanks for your recent Pinnacle Forum post.

You may have used Pinnacle reels in the past without even knowing it, as the company has made private label models for Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain and other retailers since the mid-90s.  Due to contractual agreements, however, we aren't at liberty to disclose the specific models.

Good Fishing!

It's hard to tell with a BPS reel , because BPS does their own reel warranty work. I can tell you that many bps reels will take some Revo parts , so I assume that those reels are made by Abu. It;s much easier to tell who makes the GM and Cabelas reels, just open the box and read the warranty card. GM baitcasting reels say to send the reel to Silstar? Pinnacle for waranty repairs, guess they must make them then. GM spinning reels say to send the reel to Shakespear/Pflueger for warranty work, there ya go. Cabelas reels will have the same instructions somewhere, because they don't have a service dept. So If you need parts for a GM or Cabellas reel, check the warranty card to find out who to call.

I have heard that pfleuger, daiwa, and pinnacle have done the reels for BPS, and or cabelas.  If you don't already know, cabelas and BPS are basically the same store, except for the fact that cabelas does more hunting than fishing, and that BPS does more fishing than hunting.  Each store is respectively set up the same.  ;)  Johnny Morris just started BPS at some point, and decided fishing needed it's own super chain of stores.

But back to the reels, there have been so many manufacturers for any retail store, that there is almost no way of telling who was outsourced, unless there is a source who could contractually say so.  :)  All the companies mentioned have been making great reels for a while.  And all are pretty quality, just a name, and what is in a name?
