My wife had cataract surgery this morning so I didn't go fishing for the first time this week.  We just saw a newborn fawn in our front yard in N GA.  It was frolicking around it's mother and was less than a week old.  Really cute.

I love seeing young deer; things happen for a reason. Best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery.

Only newborn I have ever seen, I almost hit. Was trailering to the lake and fog was thick as molasses. Momma and her baby ran in front of me. I locked up the brakes.

 

A deceased friend of mine's son in law was a sheriff. He got called to a home that had a wrought iron fence. A pregnant doe had attempted to jump the fence and skewered herself. SIL tagged the deer and took it home to butcher. The doe was pregnant and ready to give birth. The fetus was frozen and donated to a museum.

A few years ago my wife and I were on a trip to Maine and stopped @ a park in NY by Lake Erie and walked along a path to the lake.  A fawn was lying in the grass beside the trail and didn't move while we walked by and was still there on the way back.  Our property in N GA has a herd of deer and we see many fawns but never this early.  BTW there's a bluebird box on our porch with 5 pretty blue eggs.

Prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery for your wife Alex. 

 I saw a new fawn yesterday, still wobbly on its legs. Right in the middle of my lane coming around a sharp turn. Lucky I was able to get slowed down enough for it to get out of the way. First I've seen this year.

Prayers from Mrs B and myself for successful surgery.  My Dad (now 88 years old) had cataract surgery 10 years ago and no longer needs glasses.   

 

I see a bunch of Deer every day but haven't seen any fawns yet.

I hope your wife has a quick recovery.  I haven't seen any fawns but there have been a lot of deer running across the roads.

Deer are everywhere up this way but seeing brand new fawns

is a somewhat rare occurrence.

Good thoughts for Mrs. B. Cataract surgery is one of the most consistently successful surgeries and not a little bit successful, but "Hey, I can see again!" successful.

Hope the surgery goes well. We have a huge old doe here that had triplets last year. Only saw the one little guy for the first few weeks till we brush hogged the fields, then we saw all three. By the time fall came they were all good sized, especially for triplets. All four were back first thing this spring, but she’s run them all off now and by the looks of her belly she’s already given birth to another batch. Haven’t seen them in the open yet, but I’m sure she’ll bring them out soon. Here’s last years crew.
