This is my lipless crank rod.  Great bend for long casts and perfect backbone for a sweeping hookset on trebles.  I own two of them.  Lipless is one of my highest confidence lures.  Also excellent for walking a Zara Spook.  I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid on these rods.

How far is ‘as far as I can’?

are you talking about braid or other lines?

are you limiting it to baitcasters or spinning also?

This will be on the cheaper side, but during pre spawn i was using all kinds of lures on all different types/brands of rods and reels. Then i started using a Berkley Warpig 1/2oz on a MH 7'3" Daiwa Aird X rod with a Daiwa Tatula CT reel and i was able to get an extremely far casting distance compared to everything else being used during the pre spawn fishing. It also held up to ripping it out of grass very good until the lakes grass became so terrible that it covered almost all of the water columns (including the top of the waters surface) that i had to start using other lures.

This rod/reel/warpig combination was the reason i had several 4-5lb bass and my new pb of a 7lber.

St Croix Victory 7'10" "open water" rod. I use it for smaller swimbaits on 3/8" ball heads. #10 braid on a 4k size reel will launch em.

Last time I checked, there were various weights of lipless cranks.  Even floating.  The longer the cast the less sensitivity regardless of the weight.  If I’m throwing a lipless in grass, the fast action rod needed to make a long cast is counter productive to “ripping” it through the grass.  You are asking for too much from a rod. My lipless fishing in grass is normally not a distance technique unless it is in open water.

I had Big Bear Rods put 2-7'9" Med/Fast rods together for throwing Lipless specifically. I had the butt shortened on both to give me extra blank length. With a 1/2-5/8oz. Lipless, 12 lb. Tatsu and 16 Metanium HG's, they were unbelievably long. Brian.
