Vilas15 Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Anybody else out there have a verado? They don't seem to popular on bass boats that went from 2 strokes to everybody getting the 4 stroke proXS. Ive got a 2013 I bought recently and it runs pretty good, some hesitation under acceleration before it warms up. Probably a fuel issue. Seems like it's got a bunch of complicated pieces that don't really provide significant tangible benefits. I'd almost rather have the regular 4 stroke for simplicities sake. I'm not at elevation and don't need the supercharger. That said it looks pretty sweet and hauls ass. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 4, 2023 Super User Posted June 4, 2023 I have a 2016 Verado on a Nitro Z20. It is a good motor but too heavy for that boat which I didn’t know at the time. I never try to plane any motor until it warms up to at least 120°. 1 Quote

That extra weight would slow you down compared to bigger offshore boats that wouldn't notice it. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 5, 2023 Super User Posted June 5, 2023 Honda changed the 4 stroke OB engine using a lighter weight design that worked. Mercury and all others followed offering light weight 4 strokes ending the inline 6 cylinder Verado supercharged e give popularity. Verado is good reliable 4 stroke engine that is too heavy for most bass boats. Tom PS, the boat in the OP’s avatar also has a kicker OB adding more weight. Quote

Its loaded down. I need to swap props and go to a lower pitch for sure since I'm already slightly overpropped and will want to pull a skier/tube in the future. Quote
