Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 2, 2023 Super User Posted June 2, 2023 What are your current all-around hard Jerk Baits for largemouth and smallmouth bass ? Brands , sizes , colors , etc. that are your go-to when you use hard jerk baits ? Also - do you fish them stock right out of the package or do you change out hooks , add heavier split rings , etc. to have jerk baits suspend properly ? Quote
galyonj Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Provoke 106X in chartreuse pearl, just like it comes out of the package. Quote
Super User gim Posted June 2, 2023 Super User Posted June 2, 2023 I think you'll see a lot of votes for the MG Vision series here. I have a few and they are effective, but pricey. My top producing pattern is in perch for smallmouth, with bluegill in second for largies. This past winter I bought a Shimano World Minnow Flashboost and have used it a couple times. I have caught a few fish, but hasn't set the world on fire yet. The stock hooks on this seem legit and stout so I am going to keep them. I've used Rapala jerk baits like the x-rap, shadow rap, and ripstop too. They aren't terrible for the reasonable price you pay, but the hooks are bad. They are thin and bend, so I change those out. Pat Brown Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Rapala Rip Stop - a very very good shallow water Jerkbait. Berkley Stunna - my favorite Jerkbait for fishing offshore /deeper water 6th Sense Provoke - Another excellent Jerkbait that works tremendously in shallow water for ripping style. Strike King KVD Pro - awesome rolling action and great for ripping in hotter water. Jackall Rerange - really awesome Jerkbait that is great when water heats up and you need to slice and dice it in. Lucky Craft Pointer - really great all arounder that suspends well and has a great action Megabass Ito Vision - the king 4 Quote
Texas Flood Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Ive got a bunch of different brand Jerkbaits but I really only use two. Megabass Vision when Im on the lake. KVD 100 or 300 when Im fishing at the Spillway/River. Colors for the lake are usually perch or blue. Chrome or clown for the river. 1 Quote
Aaron_H Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Don't sleep on this budget jerkbait. H2OX Ultimate Jerk Shad from Academy, in the Crackle color. Last year was responsible for my 4 biggest LMB, including two DDs. I replace the stock hooks and split rings, personally. Great slashing action, most of them are slow risers out of the package in my waters but can add suspendots to get them how you want them. The slow rising action has been killer for me, though. 6 Quote

softwateronly Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Nishine Erie Darter SD/MD - hologram smelt Stunnas, visions, rerange, world minnows, LC pointers, and Duel sp are all very effective for me as well. Something about the nishine outshines everything though with my water and my style. scott Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 2, 2023 Global Moderator Posted June 2, 2023 6th Sense Provoke if I could only have 1. The action and variety of colors is good enough for me in any situation. Also really like the Stunna 112 and 112+1, Strike King 300, and Duo Roxante 77sp. 1 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted June 2, 2023 Super User Posted June 2, 2023 My current #1 is a Megabass Vision 110. Honorable mention, in no particular order; Lucky Craft Pointer 6th Sense Provoke Jackall Squad Minnow Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 2, 2023 Super User Posted June 2, 2023 I have 6th Sense and Megabass, but by far the best jerkbait I have is a Googan Scout in Pro Blue. It just flat out catches bass. 1 Quote
ironbjorn Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 If it's not a 110, I don't bother at this point. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Ain't caught any on a MB V110. But I've smoked them on the Yo-Zuri 3DB 110, KVD 300 Deep, and Jackall Rerange. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 3, 2023 Author Super User Posted June 3, 2023 I am coming to believe that fishing and choosing hard jerk baits is an art / science unto itself ! 1 Quote

Kevhead19 Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Evergreen FA-115 - straight from package. I like the Ayu color. Quote
Phelptwan Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 The Stunna has pretty much taken 1st place as far as jerkbaits go for me. I've caught more fish on a Shad Fillet Stunna this year than any other bait. I think I've caught more on it than all my other baits combined. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 4, 2023 Super User Posted June 4, 2023 Currently, it is a Rapala Original Floating Minnow. It's one of the few baits that I can run over the top of the eelgrass. 1 Quote
