Is this silver thing really where the line is supposed to be fed through? I seriously hope I’m missing something, the line keeps jumping off of it when I’m attempting to unspool the line from the reel, really frustrating.

I have this Piscifun spooler and I’m trying to use the unwind function to re-spool 20 lb Big Game on this Tatula 200 because I didn’t like the way it went on the first time, it didn’t look smooth or even.

Now when attempting to unwind the silver guide is not moving back and forth and the line is going back on the spool unevenly on only one side.

Yes - that's the t-wing but if you are unspooling you can just take it off the backside of the spool. The t-wing allows the line to freely come off the spool when casting and when engaged it snaps back to be narrow ang feed the line across the whole spool.

So how do I get the line off the reel and evenly back on the spool?

Do you want to save the line? If I am saving the line I use a drill with a set up I have to secure an old spool to it and just zip it off the spool. When respooling it have a bit of tension on the spool and line - while reeling make sure the t-wing it evenly distributing the line on the spool. I always do this and then tie my line to a telephone pole and back the whole spool off and reel it back in evenly and very tightly on the spool.

Yes I want to keep the line. So I can’t unwind it back onto the spool and then just start over? When I unwind it it goes back on the spool unevenly, is this going to cause it to go on my reel unevenly?

This reel, like 99.8% of all low profile baitcasters, has a disengaging level wind. It's not supposed to go back and forth when the spool rotates. There's nothing wrong with it. As hard as you might find it to be, don't start another thread asking if this is true or not. It's true.

Also, I know I start a lot of threads but I’m not sure I’ve ever done that specifically lol, I have taken most of your advice.

Your threads are fine man. The more the better on a forum. Threads keep these places alive. Not sure if most BR members are aware of this because most of us grew up before the Internet Age and actually go outside and touch grass unlike the newer generation, but forums died a long time ago because of social media. Sort of like how Uber and Lyft killed taxis. That this community is alive, well, and thriving is absolutely amazing and a testament to the bass fishing community as a whole and Glenn and his crew.

It's just funny to poke fun at your massive overthinking sometimes.

When you put the line back on the reel, put it through the levelwind and it will spool up evenly, or close enough. Brian.

Yes indeed, I was thinking about this. This is one of the very few remaining traditional message boards that has survived social media’s annihilation of them.

I tried that it does not stay in it

make sure you put the reel in freespool when you're feeding the tag end of the line to the spool, then it's easy to put it through the t-wing.

I always center the t-wing in my spool, then push the button - the line tag and spool knot will be aligned in the center of the spool and wind beautifully when you begin reeling.

backing up - also make sure you go through at least two rod guides when spooling your reel.

A line winder is always a good place to put your line when you want to remove it from your reel spool.

Your reel's level wind will engage with the gears when you crank the handle and will distribute the line on the spool relatively evenly from left to right. It doesn't matter if it's not laying perfectly on the filler spool the line is coming from. Big Game isn't precision wound from the factory to begin with. Just spool it on and go fishing.

I think the problem he’s having is the spooler he’s using is sitting high off the rod and lifting the line out of the slot and into the T. If that’s the case either don’t use the spooler and/or pinch the line tight holding tension and keeping it aligned with the level wind.

This is what 20lb Big Game looks like spooled up and fished. It is what it is. Don't worry about it even though it looks a little rough. This chit is as strong as a M....something really strong.

Ahh ok so I did it right the first time ??‍♂️

Honestly, I don’t understand the question.  I almost need a video:)

but when I spool a reel, I run the line down the rods line guides. Looks like your line is coming in from too high an angle. Line is going thru the section of the guide that assists with casting the line, but it’s sucks for spooling it.  Line needs to go thru the thin “upright” portion.

or buy a Shimano. :D

I have never owned a Shimano. I didn't like the way any if them felt in my hands. Daiwa is far and away better for me. I currently have 30 Daiwa baitcasters.

So you were expecting it to look perfectly even across the spool?

Has with every other line I’ve used

I put a cotton jersey glove (those cheap brown ones that you can 3 pairs for @$2.00) on and hold the line tightly as I wind it back on the reel. The glove gives me the ability to keep good tension on the line without hurting either the line or my hand....I also keep one of the gloves in my tackle bag to use if I need to break off a hook or lure when using braid.

No. I literally hand wind line I’m saving onto spools all the time. It goes on however It goes on.

You are right.  This is one of the few forums that is still alive in kicking.  Michigan

sportsmen forum used to be a vibrant kicking place to share stories, reports and other stuff related to hunting and fishing.  Now it’s a former shell of its self which, usually divulges into nasty political discussions.
