Super User webertime Posted May 27, 2023 Super User Posted May 27, 2023 Mend it and now you have a freestyle. I prefer the freestyle for that reason. Quote
Cbump Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 Was just looking closely at the picture and my line slipped so far along that wire that I almost lost that fish. No more magdraft for me. I ordered some big bite baits b6 line thru and 7” suicide Shads last night. And some shine glides. Quote
VolFan Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 I was gonna say - where did you tie in to that thing? It looks like your line slid and probably just about cut it in half. Quote

That entire contraption ripped out the front/bottom of the bait. Quote
Cbump Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 I threw It all away at the boat ramp. Wish I had kept the treble hook. Lol So I have Big Bites B6 6” line thrus, Big Bites 5” and 7” suicide shads, Big Bites 5.5” BB kickers coming. Going to rig the kickers with homemade line thru and use Big bites 3/4 oz and 1/4 oz swimbait heads for the suicide shads. Also already have some 4” storm largo shads. Between all these, surely I can accomplish what the magdraft does without It being one and done. Got probably 30 or more baits for the price of 6 magdrafts. Quote
Cbump Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 Also got a pack of pink 5” suicide shads for like $1.97 on clearance. Probably great at the coast. Quote
JediAmoeba Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Try the freestyles. I am not a fan of soft plastics that have a hook on the bottom. I also would have mended it. You can get a lot.of fish out of a magdraft unless the tail is gone... Quote
Cbump Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 I’ve got some freestyles with 6/0 beast hooks. But seems like hookset would be tough to get that big hook through the plastic. @JediAmoeba Quote
softwateronly Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 I only fish freestyles in 6”. They catch. I like them with the 8/0 and a XH expride braid to leader. I’m able to set the hook all the way at the end of a long cast which seems to be my most likely place to get a bite. scott Quote

Texas Flood Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Great. I finally buy one the other day and now I see this thread... Quote
osummerer23 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I brought one, threw it for < 10 casts and had a pike tear it up. Shoved a bunch of super glue in the teeth wounds. Only to catch another pike shortly after. At this point, I might as well throw it in my saltwater box for blue fish. Quote
