its been sunny and light winded all week.  pleasureable.  i've been thinking about fishing all week.  my first visit to the California Delta of 2023.

i woke up this morning to rain and cold weather.  i am about to turn on my house heater.  this is unbelievable.  i am confused as heck, and i bet the bass are lost as well.  it has not been consistent enough for me and my band of amateur fisherfriends to get on a consistent spring bite.

oh well.   still better odds than catching them from my living room.

Haha.  We are having the exact opposite weather up here.  Its been between 70-80 degrees, light southerly winds, and low humidity for days now, and will remain like that through the holiday weekend.

I actually wish there would be some rain in the forecast now though.  March and April were bountiful with snow and rain.  The faucet has since turned off and I'm afraid we're heading right back into another summer drought.

I know it can ruin a lot of people's plans, but when you get cloudy or rainy weather around a big holiday, it keeps a ton of people off the lake.  I'm all about having less boaters and anglers out there, so bring it on.

The weather has been nice and will continue to be here. That’s all well and good but, I am nearing my cut off for the river on the low end of things.

Sounds like you could use some rain there too then.

The interesting part of all this to me is that you can find as many articles and studies rejecting the hypothesis (worse weather patterns on weekends) as you can supporting it ? In reality, it seems that it is likely a regional effect, where it really is worse weather in some areas on weekends, and not any different in others, due to a variety of reasons.

Down here in south Florida, it seems like every front that moved down started on a Friday. I mean, it was like clockwork. So what I had to do was to expect it and fish accordingly, which could mean fishing in high winds, storms, and rain. Not to mention the big high pressure thereafter. Believe it or not, I did rather well. It was very challenging but I adjusted accordingly, whether it be with gear like rain suits or whatever. I made the best of it. The bass can be at their peak feeding  activity during these bad weather spells.

Our spring was all crap on the weekends.   Drove me crazy.  I feel for ya man.  It is amazing right now, but I avoid the weekends now.   I don’t work in the summer.   I like lakes to myself.  Holiday weekends are not for me on lakes.  70 degree water temps will probably bring out the wakeboats, jet skis, and pontoon parade.  Yuck

For the same reason, when flying, I always have a head wind, the big buck will stand out in the open just out of range, and when I was a kid, the walk to school was uphill both ways.  No reason, it is just the way it is.

This weekend no matter how good the weather is I’ll be avoiding the water. I’ll let all the nutcases, drunks, and people who only take their boats out once a year have the water all to themselves. I won’t be a part of Memorial Day on the lake debauchery.

Yea thats north Idaho. Sunny and calm all week, hurricane force winds on the weekends.. I figure heck with it, getting lit up by lightning at least makes a great story..

If it hasn't been freezing on the weekend, then the wind has been blowing.  I was off yesterday and decided to run out to a pond and avoid the weekend crowd.  The cold front came through on Thursday instead of Friday.
