My boat is in this thread, I just bought it last year. Its nice, I catch fish out of it but I would like something a tad newer with more juice. Daycare costs are astromical these days, along with insurance. My 18 month old son runs a monthly bill of $1000 before feeding or clothing him so all my expendable income for a boat payment is SHOT for another three years.  My boat is free and clear and I like that. Its good enough till he goes to school or I win one.

Back on topic, sorry for getting off track.

I bought my current boat after both my kids got through college. Before that I had a 14 foot  with a 15 hp. Kind of miss the old boat. I saved for a long time so I could pay cash, Now that I am retired no way I would want to take on boat payments. With  the price of gas I find myself using my Loon 138 kayak to fish out of in close by water.

I think a Whaler is the only boat I would consider if I won the lottery  to replace my current boat. I would want a center console.

I like your ride Darren!! I have a bass boat, and i really want a kayak/canoe too. that will really let me do some fishing on the river here as well as my lakes without using so much fuel and will give me a little excercise. I will still keep my Javelin but the Kayak is the next project... i think it will be fun.

Thanks, man. It's been a bit modified since then. The Motorguide bit the dust and I replaced it with a Minn Kota. A good change, too as the Kota is much lighter. Also didn't have my fishing crate in the pic.

I control the motor with my feet (turning) via the foot pedals, and built a switch box which sits at my left hand allowing me an almost hands-free trolling experience. Works like a champ.

You'll love the yak experience. Just be sure to give your elbows a break now and then...that's partly why I have the trolling motor.

Motor has been recently rebuilt, just bought the boat about 4 months ago.  Still  learning to drive the new hull and get the boat set up just right.  Right now though, I'm doing low 70s, with the motor missing on a cylinder (have an electrical issue I'm trying to smooth out).  Ideally she should cruise in the 80's once she's running right and setup right.  Time will tell!  The XTB in the background ran low 80's WFO when i had her.

Get that Alli right, and you will give my Bullet a run for her money.  Those 2.5 Mercs are strong and light.  Neat boat.  I'd kill myself in one.

That is a cool jon boat!! You are right, she is ready! I just posted that my bass boat had to go to the shop...so my jon (which is naked compared to yours) may have to put in some work this weekend!

I like seeing decked out jon boats.

war that is a dandy...grew up in a jon, 14 ft. sears with a 9 1/2 johnson and both took a beatin big time and caught more fish, killed more ducks, ran over more stumps and water mocs and as rough as it was and homely...walking back from shooting ducks and finding barbed wire with a wader boot made that the prettiest lil jon on the water. upgraded it to an 18 evinrude when the bond movie came out with the new evinrudes on all the boats and it would scat. gave the 9 1/2 and $600 for the 18. do that today and someone is drunk! hanover...that's just showin off. i don't blame you either that is an awesome ride. somewhere a video shows one with one man and he's tied to a two man kayak with paddles and he drags em wherever he wants to. they can't stop him. i'm modifying my pelican to more adapt to my fishing and creating things for me to do. i started with a dash last year and have it almost complete except for painting. it contains a plate for magnetic antenna and ground wire, a belt loop for the clip on my handheld cobra cb, a gun holder, a spotlight holder a mount for my depth finder and a hole for the wires to go through, a cell holder, rod and drink holder, a magnetic strip for clippers etc. to cling to, ashtray, and is 36 inches across and marked to measure and underneath is a 4 port plug is for lights, depth finder, cell charger etc., and also a glove box...actually a large fanny pack attached under side. the dash is removable. i made new winds for anchor lines which are 50 ft. as to the others i had only held 25 ft. and smaller line. i made a new transom from slotted angle and is lighter and looks better to replace the ugly 2x4 i was using. i also am mounting a bow light and using the port under the dash to light it. the 4 ports btw run on a smaller battery. also to stable it and maybe stand or not worry about my 80 lb. hound getting excited, i am adding pontoons made from pvc. i was bringing them off the dash until i found the middle seat has a rod holder on each side and i don't use them and...perfect fit for the pvc to sit in, it's 1 1/4 sched 40 and stiff. i'll put a strap on the side so where the arm rests on the boat it will cinch down and keep the arm from going up and down. the pontoons are 4 in. and caps alone for the ends were right at $10...that was $40 right there and i thought about the spray foam. it filled the ends and just needs to be sculpted to a point and painted. now i looked at kevlar skids because mine showed wear after one summer. i thought...$100? then i saw the slotted angle in home depot and hmmm. yes i made a brush guard i guess, cutting grooves in the iron to allow it to bend i rubber coated it and put weather stripping between it and the canoe. i had dog chain...i ran from the front handle down through the angle up to the other side to help hold it up and thought once it's rubberized and painted it will look tough plus help stop wear on the front of the boat. also my seat broke out. bad news, they sent me a new one and i didn't see throwing the seat away so i put it with the front seat with a 1x6 underneath on each side holding them together for my brother's wide "bass". makes a good work bench also! i'll show pics of it all once they're all painted.

The new bass hunter boat for the year. I love it works great for the hard to get to spots. Love the elite 4x dsi I got for it and the 43lb thrust foot control trolling motor makes it go at a pretty good clip, plus the wheels bass hunter puts on the back make it so easy for one guy to load and unloadpost-41158-0-65221900-1364095829_thumb.j
