Cbump Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I cannot find the eagle claw or trokar kahle style tube hooks i wanted. What other hooks do y’all use for Texas rigged tubes? Side note, if you have any of the eagle claws, I’d buy them in 3/0 and up. Quote
Mbirdsley Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I’ve done a lot of experimenting to find the right hook and hook size. 2/0 for me seems to be the best size for t-rigging and getting it to look and fish right. Bigger hooks I can’t keep the hook point or the round bend of the hook in the tube. I prefer a Mustad kvd elite 2/0 EWG. another thread I said I liked the plastic keeper on the kvd elite hook. However, that plastic keeper is starting to attract a lot of weeds around the front of the tube. a 2/0 offset round bend will work if that’s all you have/can find. Anything bigger and it doesn’t like to stay put on the hook. 1 Quote
river-rat Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I have used a Mustad 4/0 Big Mouth Tube hook for 4" - 4 1/2" flipping tubes for years. I upsize to the 5/0 when using a 5" tube. I might add that I use a flipping tube all the time. It's one of my confidence baits 1 Quote
Cbump Posted May 20, 2023 Author Posted May 20, 2023 I don’t currently have anything that would work for the 3.5” coffee tubes, but these might work for the 4” craw tubes.. What do you think? 5/0 owner rig n hook, 5/0 owner twist lock flippin hook. Buddy says not to use the twistlock because the bait will ball up on the hook. But people use them for creatures all the time ?♂️ Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 20, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 20, 2023 Use these: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lazer_Trokar_Tournament_Tube_Hook/descpage-LTTTBHK.html?from=BASRES Quote
Cbump Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 @Glenn those are the ones I want for sure based off your videos, but I can’t find them in stock anywhere. You want to sell some ? Quote
river-rat Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 I tried the 5/0 Rig'N hook for flipping tubes, but I kept missing fish so I changed to the Mustad Big Mouth Tube hook and have never looked back. I'm sure the Trokar hook recommended by Glenn will work, but it's hard for me to try something else because I've had success with what I use for tubes. I've never tried the Owner Twist Lock hook for tubes. Quote
Cbump Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 I found some 2/0 hooks like Glenn posted that I bought for the 3.5” (only size i can find). Also bought the 4/0 and 2/0 big mouth hooks and have the 5/0 rig n hook. Hopefully I can find something that works out of all that. Quote
