hooked directly to the worm is no bueno.  even short strikes by dinks will cost you.

Is that the case with all the knock offs as well?

What hook do you use to wacky o-ring rig?

Pretty much, but if you select correctly sized O-rings for the worm, being not too tight and not too loose, and you don't nick the worm where the O-rings cross over, you can get plenty of casts and catches per worm. Even when using GY senkos.

5” - 6” Senko with o-ring use Owner Jungle Wacky Hook size #1 and fish it weightless.

If you try the Giant TRD, then add a nose 3/32 nail weight, not  the same swim action but last all day or night.

i got my wacky system down.thanks.

i hate the orings.  i use tubing, which fits me better.  my style.  it allows me to orient the hook in either direction.  parallel or perpendicular to the worm as needed.

Last weekend Jason Christie caught the fish that is currently the largest for the year on the Bass Elite Series and likely to stay that way, on a Yum Dinger.

I am not picky about stickbaits like many guys, though I often fish the GY Senko. If I had to pick one for durability and effectiveness, I would recommend the Xzone True Center Stick. The 6" version is a fish catcher for sure.

That was freaking epic, he posted the video of the catch on his FB account.

Lay is gonna take big Bass after the series went to the Big O, Murray, Santee, Seminole.....lol ?

I'd be lying if I didn't say I threw a whacky rig for the first time in 20yrs this week after being inspired by him, and mainly Brandon Cobb.   Cobb is going to win AOY on that stupid whacky rig ?

That is exactly what I have been doing. One stick bait will last for several fish. Usually they end up tearing in the middle after a while.

Strike King Ocho holds up pretty well

They have held up worse than senkos for me, but they have caught me a lot  of fish.

I would say the Yum Dinger is a common alternative that holds up well.

Yum Dingers for me. They are cheap and are sold in bulk so I don't mind losing a couple an outing.

Z-Man Zinkerz for wacky. Senkos for Trig. I'm not a fan of elaztech for T rigging.

Many are more durable but won't have the same wiggle on the fall in a Texas rig.  For a wacky rig you can get the stiffer cheap baits to wiggle by picking up the fall rate with a weighted wacky hook.  I use a cheap lucky strike 1/16 oz weedless wacky jigheads on bass pro stick o worms.  The only bait I have found that had a very similar senko wiggle when fished weightless Texas rigged and was more durable was the old US made kalins wack o worms.  The modern chinease made ones are too stiff.  You can also expand your horizons to non stick worms.  A kvd caffeine shad will stand up better to being skipped and worked over pads and has a nice glide and tail wiggle.  I fish it like a senko rather than as a fluke despite it being a soft jerkbait.

Good , accurate comment - I use the VMC wacky jig head in 1/16th oz. and sometimes the 1/8th oz. in wind... Try with the Z-Man Zinkers -  especially good.
