My Yamamoto senkos are getting destroyed just bringing the through grass. What’s the closest senko style bait that’s similar to the Yamamoto that’s more durable. I’ve heard good about bps stik o and the big bite baits

Senko, Yum Dinger, Shim E Shake, Stick O

General, all are more durable.
Over the years I’ve used them all one time or another but always seem to have more success using the Berkeley General when t rigged with any weight.

However, when throwing weightless I still use the Senko because of the difference in its action compared to the rest.

None are used extensively tho

bps stik o

I'll second this. I use the Zoom, Yum, and various Strike King also, I just use weighted Wacky hooks with these. Brian.

Shim E Stick,

The SK Shim-E-Stick is another good one, but I think they're either being discontinued, or they've winnowed down the color selection by a lot. There were lowball sell offs on the auction site by sellers like Shelton's last year which usually indicates they've been discontinued. Of all of the KOs out there, the Googan Lunker Log is probably the closest thing to a GY senko action-wise IMO, but durability is poop just like the senko.

Look for stickbaits with a lower salt content.  They wont have the action or weight of the Yamamoto, but they wont have the price either.  One of the better knock offs IMO is BPSs stick o, theyre cheap and they have some mass to them.  Yums arent bad either, theyre considerably lighter so they dont sink as fast, which makes them good in shallow water.  I really like Zinkers, IMO their action is close to that of the Yamamoto.  They are super durable and are great for wacky rigging as they dont need an O ring.  The only hang up with them is the density changes the more they are used and or more fish are caught on them.  As the salt content decreases, the sink rate slows as the worm becomes more bouyant due to the nature of Elaztech.  It doesnt happen fast and usually you can get half dozen fish before you have put a new one on, which is far better then using a Yamamoto.  Not only that the used Zinkers make the best Ned rig, SH and weighted T rig baits you can get.  Its the same effect as soaking TRD overnight before you use them.

A bait you may want to check out are Zooms Mag finesse worms.  Theyre pretty much interchangeable with a senko.  The bottom is flat so they glide well.  They have enough salt and mass to fish really well unweighted, but they dont have as much salt as the Yamamoto which makes the zooms considerably more durable.

Not surprising at all given that it’s a yamamoto brand. None of their plastics are durable.

Thats being said, I prefer the action and density of the original senko myself. I agree that the stick o ones are pretty close in comparison.

If you want durability, go with Zman elaztech. Just be aware that it’s buoyant.

Midway USA recently had bulk senkos for $15 off and free shipping.

Strike King Ocho holds up pretty well

Many are more durable but won't have the same wiggle on the fall in a Texas rig.  For a wacky rig you can get the stiffer cheap baits to wiggle by picking up the fall rate with a weighted wacky hook.  I use a cheap lucky strike 1/16 oz weedless wacky jigheads on bass pro stick o worms.  The only bait I have found that had a very similar senko wiggle when fished weightless Texas rigged and was more durable was the old US made kalins wack o worms.  The modern chinease made ones are too stiff.  You can also expand your horizons to non stick worms.  A kvd caffeine shad will stand up better to being skipped and worked over pads and has a nice glide and tail wiggle.  I fish it like a senko rather than as a fluke despite it being a soft jerkbait.

grass is destroying your Senko?  wacky rigged?

i've tried a few others, but i just think the OG worms catches more fish for me.  i think the durability lends to the effectiveness of the worm.  it just wiggles right for my local bass population.  i imagine it would be a different situation if it was more durable.  no telling what a bass sees..but they work for me.

I use the Strike King Ocho mainly. Has a very good wobble on the fall and I'll get several fish out of most baits when they're wacky rigged even though I don't use an O ring or collar on them.

i use a tiny ring of silicon tubing to bolster my Senko worm.  i bet i can get 5 fish on a worm before i call it.   i have never met grass that shredded my worm.  if it is too woody, i go with a tex rig weightless set up.

had 2 bass destroy 2 senkos never to be seen again. I'll still use them from time to time but I've been really liking the Z-Man Bang Sticks.

I’m not being a smart Alec and you can use whatever knockoff bait you want but I gotta say if you are tearing up a Senko in grass, you’re doing something wrong.  I use a Senko to punch with in heavy grass and I drag it with a 1/4 ounce football head jig on St Clair.  I’ve had them last for over 10 fish in heavy cover depending on a few things and I’ve drug one for multiple days and fish on St Clair through the sand grass and sandy bottom.

You need to remember non of those have fall rate of Senko, To be honest I went cheaper road but I humbly back to Senko, Its might be pricy but it is working really good. Additional to Senko I am using Berkley general because of the scent of it,

I don't use a O ring, but I literally get one fish per bait.   Been throwing them the last few days after not throwing them since I was a kid.   Now I remember why I dislike them.

$7.50 a bag, these things make my MB 110s seem like absolute bargains when you calculate fish per dollar spent.

hooked directly to the worm is no bueno.  even short strikes by dinks will cost you.

I try not to shill, but I'm gonna today.

The simple fact of the matter, for me, is that I've not had any better results with a genuine Senko than I have with literally any other stickbait. My favorite – not to mention best producing – stickbait for weightless fishing of any kind is the one from X-Zone. Nice weight, comparable secondary action, can take more of a beating, and they're about half the price. Don't sleep on these.
