I’ve been wooed to the snow dog way having had two huskies for the last 7 years up until a couple months ago when one crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly and now down to one. I enjoyed all of your pictures of Sasha and glad to see she made it to a new furever home. Our female doesn’t tend to get along with other females and she’s starting to get used to being the only child (dog anyway) again. Losing one really makes me question what I want to do in the future. Reading this post sure makes fostering seem like a good option, though I’m sure we’d fail the fostering with the first one. Thanks ~ Sasha was a fun foster. Fostering may be different for everyone. For us we had to 'learn' to fall in love with the process, not the dog. Can be hard to do and we had a few foster failures along the way. Being able to take care of them like they were your own and then let them go can be a bear. But I realized I had to hold back 'just a little' bit of myself. Not go all in on every one. Understanding right from the start that they are simply visiting and benefitting from it. While we never let the fosters directly interact with our pack, having a stable pack of at least two dogs can be helpful, just so the foster can get a bit of a contact high off that. Working very closely with our local animal shelter can not be understated and is something we need & appreciate. A-Jay 2 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 21, 2023 Super User Posted June 21, 2023 A-Jay, nice work on finding her a new home. My wife and I have thought about fostering dogs. But we decided against it. We both love our dogs so much, and we become very attached to them. They're a big part of our everyday lives. Again, thank you for taking care of her and helping her find a good home. 1 Quote
