Nothing beats topwater walk-the-dog lures for me. The Jack in the box/pop goes the weasel melody playing repeatedly in my head during retrieves may have something to do with it.

All the kids in the neighborhood                                                                                                     were out to get my weasel                                                                                                               I hid him in my microwave........

If I feel impatient, Spinnerbait above timber #1.

When it's time to slow down, give me a Drop-shot or Jackal flickShake.

Top water hands down...I'm this order 1) buzz bait 2) popper. I like catching bass any way I can but those two baits are way in front of everything else.

worms, worms,worms.................t-rigged....weightless....fipped,pitched or punched.....I love fishing with worms.

This is it for me. It’s what I learned with. I am throwing a jig a lot more than I used to these days though.

lots of topwater.  you all have the topwater combo as your best combo?

There’s nothing like a topwater bite. Early morning or evening it’s what I go with first. My topwater combo is about my lowest end stuff. Loomis GL2 PR844 and a Tatula CT 100.

Definitely frog or topwater fishing.  When its going, its violent and exciting.

Unfortunately I haven't been on a good frog or topwater bite in years.  I think its the pressure.

Same here. My favorite is frogs, but like you I haven’t been on a good frog bite in probably four years. I started pitching to holes in the pads and I’ve gotten almost the same result. Not as exciting but still produced bass.

Green frog.

As for rods, depends on the cover.  Usually either a 904 that I built out to 7'10" or an SCV MHF at 7'10", but if it is tighter over head cover and 844 GLX at 7'2".  Some other choices if necessary but always a green frog.

………my SINGLE favorite bass fishing technique………

WORM. Weighted, weightless, swimming or rigged any other way, it’s the worm.

I love fishing jigs and t rigged senkos. Something about that thunk, or tap tap tension that I love. And this all plays in to my favorite rod ever: a dobyns extreme hp 704c with 30lb braid and 12lb leader.

Man, some good stuff here....

My #1 is a buzz-bait. Love fishing this at first light.

#2 is a t-rigged worm. That tap, tap, tap...SET THE HOOK!

#3 is a spinner-bait. Cast and go, cast and go, cast and go.

At the bottom of the list is a Carolina rig. I've just never been able to consistently catch fish this way.

i do them all.  well, i do lots of them.  but i know my favorite way to catch a bass.

i do realize it is almost an impossiblity for forum member of any forum to name a single favorite, so i wont try.  hahah..:D

my single favorite:  is bottom contact bass fishing.  i love it low and slow.  that slow, meticulous, methodical fishing where i am imagining my bait creeping and hopping along the bottom.  i love interpreting the bottom contour, pretending i can understand the tactile feedback better than i actually can.  then i love when my bait stops (!).  i freeze.  hold tension.  "is it a snag?"  "can it be a bass?"..it's like playing chicken at that point.  i take a long pause to feel if i can tell if it is pulling back.  "nope..snag."  proceed.    they arent all the typical TAP TAP TAP  of a bass sucking in the bait.  sometimes it is nothing, but the line moving to the side.    jigs, light texas rigs, etc.    i love leaning back into the rod to drive the hook point home.   i lean hard if it is a heavy hook jig, but for the most part i trend towards needle like hooks.  thinner.  i like precision casting to cover.  lighter bait rigs.

i am saying this because i have been thinking about it somewhat.  with respect to my next rod purchases.

thanks to this forum, i am better educated. i used to just buy rods and use them for whatever techique.  drives my boat friend nuts.  he laughs when i lose fish.   (i'm that guy that hooked a good bass on a Fury 703, with 12lb flouro, and a FROG - it didnt end in my favor) i am gonna buy a couple of GREAT rods to start.  may as well rank my favorite techiques so i can systematically buy a few good rods.  i'm gonna buy the MegaBass X-bites for my single favorite fishing method.  hope my wife doenst notice.  hahah.  them maybe the FMJ for the heavier bottom contact stuff...or a Windbuster by Christmas.  (hey, i have to buy myself something!)

i think knowing my favorite way to fish is really helping me save money.  yup.  i said it.  no willy nilly shotgun approach to buying gear like i use to.

what is your Single favorite techinque..and is it asscociated with your best rod/reel combo?  or no.

After reading TT's comments on the recently reviewed p5 BMG...I'd skip the P5 for bottom contact, and go with an upper end Loomis.

Sensitivity: I feel as though everyone today is looking for electric sensitivity in their fishing rod. Especially if the rod in question is at or above a certain price threshold. At just under $500, the BMG likely meets that threshold for many and if that's your expectation, I can tell you right now those expectations will not be met with the BMG. At the same time, I can also tell you that you will not have any issue sensing the bite with this stick.

It's mostly a monthly thing for me being a small mouth guy.

Spring is jerk baits, ned and tubes

Summer is jigs, drop shot, shakey head

Fall is back to jerkbaits, Neds and tubes

I do intermingle all of them together though and I use topwater, flukes, cranks and spinnerbaits on occasion when the bite isnt here.

If I had to pick one technic that I use every trip, all season it would be weightless wacky senko.

I keep a NRX+ 852 Loomis/2500 stradic tied on for wacky all the time. Its the only rig that never changes and goes out on the boat every time.

I've put several 20 pound bags together in half a dozen casts with a jerkbait, and wait anxiously for winter every year to hope to repeat it.  So the jerkbait is definitely number one for me.

Number two would be a shakyhead, I own two setups for that now.  One casting, one spinning.  Caught a nice 21" momma on one Friday night at about 1 AM.

Large Swimbaiting - it's not even close for me. No matter when I fish, I will have a swimbait rod and at least 1 box of swimbaits.

Tough one.  I love so many different baits it impossible to pick just one. All jigs are fun, but I really enjoy fishing finesse football jigs, because I dont get to do it alot. There's very little hard bottom around here and its only clean from Dec-March.

I love jig worming and SHs are a blast.

Pitching T rigs is a favorite of mine as well.

Im really starting to like the free rig, more so then a T rig for pitchin around moderate cover.

I love getting a reaction bite, ripping cranks/chatterbaits, deflecting squarebills/swingheads, so much fun.

The most unique bait IMO that I cant go without has to be a JB.  Ive found spybaits and suspending cranks will catch when theres a JB bite, but nothing is like fishing a JB.  Trying to match the mood of the fish and color to the water clarity can be a challenge, but its so rewarding when you figure it out.
