I hope I am in the right place for this, sorry if I am not. I have just recently purchased an 8 ft Bass raider, and a 40 lb thrust Minn Kota. This is actually my first boat I have ever owned. I am wanting to put the troller on the front. So my question is.... Can I just unscrew the bolt that holds the head onto the shaft and spin it 180 degrees to have my tiller facing me while it is mounted in the front? Has anyone else ever done this? I am planning to fish a lot more this summer. Last year I was in a canoe, and realized, I was spending too much time holding it in place for the guy who doesn't know how to fish, so he can get hung up. All feedback is greatly welcomed, and I also look forward to reading more from this forum. ;D

Some trolling motors you can, some you cant.  Maybe someone that knows your particular model will chime in!  If you do go for it, make sure you have a small pick or really small screw driver cause the wires will get in the way of putting the bolt back in and it can be a pain!

I have the MK 31# and that's exactly what i did. Worked fine. I think most hand steered TM can be adjusted either way.

I have had Minn Kota's and Grady Whites and have turned the heads on all with no problems. Like the poster above said, watch out for those wires, if you nick one you will have a problem. Good luck.
