So, I got my SJ703 C6O2 blank.  It is the crookedest blank I have every gotten so far.  It might be fine, but wondering what you think.  I tried posting a video showing the rod as it rolls on the wrapper.  It has two bends to it so there is not really a straightest axis.  I have a bunch of NFC blanks and I would only call two of them crooked.  This one is by for the worst.  One of my DS721 xray’s has a crook in the last couple inches of the blank.  Every other one is a modest curve if not pretty much straight to my eyes.

It weights in at 1.400 oz.  My regular SJ703 X-ray blank weighs in at 1.455.  So, the weight compared to a regular X-ray is not impressive, plus the other one is much straighter.

Please let us know how NFC responds if you ask for a replacement.

I recently ordered 2 Deltas and neither were 'straight' but one was about as bad as your picture.  I knew going in that it was possible based on numerous posts online about crooked NFC blanks.  When I mocked up guides on the blank (with the guides on the upward curve) I could barely tell it was crooked, so I built it like that and it's looks and feels fine.

Delta's are sort of NFC's 'basic' models and were only about $40 each on sale though...I think I'd have a different outlook on it if it was one of those XRay C6O2's.  Supposedly their flagship and the latest and greatest in blank tech.  I'm surprised they'd let a flagship blank that crooked out the door.

Mine was straight. I would ask for an exchange.

One of the problems I've seen from North Fork is that they wont do an exchange...but will issue a refund.

Might be time for you guys to find a new source for blanks.  Seems based on this forum and another that NFC has a "straightness" problem.

I probably have over 20 NFC blanks and I would only call two crooked.  This one is the only one I may return.  It bends in 2 directions too, so that makes it harder to have it look good.

Interesting. I just bought and received my first NFC blank. It happened to be the straightest blank I have ever received. Had a hard time "finding" what I wanted to be the top of the rod.

I've got a handful of NFC blanks I haven't even taken out of the tube they were shipped in like 2 months ago. Work and kids have kept me from building and I had to sacrifice my makeshift building area to make it a playroom for the girls, now I'm worried about the blanks haha.

2 crooked blanks out of 20 is 10% - which I've heard Gary say is normal. How crooked is acceptable is up to each person. Also is 10 percent really normal? I've heard others say straight is normal, crooked isn't acceptable.

Again to an extent I'm sure we have to accept some deviation, nothing is perfect. But that picture... They never should've let that leave the factory. Glad they're doing the right thing and exchanging it for you, at least they handled it well after the fact.

Let us know how you feel about the finished rod next to your other xrays.
