I have a Minn Kota Edge 55 foot control trolling motor that is about 11 years old.  I have no problem with the motor itself, it's the foot pedal I don't like. It has the small on/off remote switch on top of the pedal that has to be pressed with my foot to engage the motor and to me it is a pain in the butt sometimes to use. I have to have my foot placed just right in order to press it, sometimes even going barefoot to use my big toe to press it.  Does anyone know if Minn Kota makes a different style replacement foot pedal for this older model Minn Kota?  Thanks and tight lines!!

I have the same problem with my Minn Kota Edge foot pedal.  I thought it was me?  They need to get rid of the large ridge on the rear of the pedal and make it flat.

I don't have an Edge, I have a Maxxum (2015).  Its pretty similar to the Edge though.  Is there not a momentary or continuous button on the side of the pedal plate?  I always put mine in continuous mode so I don't have to engage that button on the top to use it.

Have you tried a belt sander yet?

Not yet.  I'm living with it.  I think what happened is the foot control is designed for someone with smaller feet than I have.  My size 12s just don't fit.  It's not a big deal, but it is annoying.

Ya, at least my fairly new Edge 45 has it.  With it on Continuous all I have to work is the speed dial on the right to adjust the power...but that's easy enough with the side of my shoe.

And Phil...my size 10s fit just fine on the foot-plate.

That is exactly how mine functions too.  Maybe the older Edge versions do not have that.  The OP said his is 11 years old.

Yes it is. Size 12s here, too.

Mine has that side button and I use it on continuous if trolling from one spot to the next but not if I'm fishing one small area. I just wish MK made an upgraded pedal with the on/off button in a different more user friendly location.

I'm slightly confused as to what the issue is.  If you engage the continuous button on the side, you can control the speed/power with the dial on the right side with your foot.  If you want it off, just turn the dial down to zero.  That way when you want to start the prop moving again, you can turn the dial back up to the desired power without having to use the top button on the pedal.

Well that's generous of you but I am pretty sure its exactly the same as the one he currently has.

Mine has a wheel that spins without clicking between speeds and the on/off button is bigger that a silver dollar, maybe about baseball sized. I’ll get a pic when I get home, it’s a 70 lb 24 v

That's exactly what I have too.  And I'm pretty sure his Edge is also like that.

The Maxxum, Edge, and Fortrex all use the same foot pedal. Personally I think Minnkota puts their buttons on the wrong side of the pedal but that's a different debate. Try adjusting how you put your foot on the pedal so the switch is more under the ball of your foot instead of just your toe. You don't need to line your foot up to fit inside of the heel cup. To directly answer the question though, no they don't sell a different foot pedal for them.

I see what you are saying but I don't see how that can be any easier than using the top button.  Yes I have both the continuous button and the speed dial on the right. I can't turn my dial all that easy with my foot.  It has clicks between the numbers.

Mine doesn’t click between the numbers, still yours if you want it haha. I did cut the wires but I’m guessing you’ve got those
