megabass levante pitch perfect vs dobyns fury 735c

Which rod has more backbone? looking to jig, frog and throw up to 1.5oz single hook moving baits. Thanks

If you're willing to consider something else, I HIGHLY recommend the Ark Invoker Pro 7'4' Mag Heavy Fast for those things. It's got lots of backbone with a great tip. Rated 3/8-2 it's my favorite pitching stick ever, and I have quite a few. I have no experience with Megabass, but the fury isn't even in the same league, and the Ark retails for only $20 more.

Imo neither is good for that. Both fish on the lower end of their ratings and the perfect pitch is only rated to 1.2 oz anyway. Bump up to a 6 power Dobyns.

I throw 1.5 oz baits on my perfect pitch just fine.  A 74Hf St Croix victory is probably what you want though.

I have a Champion XP 735 and the Levante Perfect Pitch
 

The 735 is certainly the better frog rod, but the Perfect Pitch is hands down the better jig rod (considerably more sensitive). I would use neither for lures that weigh 1.5oz. So if you need one rod for all of those things I’d look elsewhere. 
 

P.S. the heaviest I’d ever go on the Perfect Pitch is 1.25oz because it is a phenomenal magdraft rod.

Agreed. 5 powered Dobyns usually stating a 1.5 oz rating, wouldn't throw anything more than 1.2 oz max. If going with Dobyns, go with 6 power for sure. I use a Dobyns Champ 736 for bigger frogs, heaviest cover flipping t-rigs/jig, and up to 1.5 oz single hook swimbaits/weedless swimbaits.

I've got a Fury 735C. IMO it's not sensitive enough for jigs. Good frog rod though.

I use my 735 for  magdraft and 6.8” Kietech w/ 3/8oz weighted hooks that are a touch over 1.5oz  total and it’s fantastic for these baits

Sounds like two different rods. I’ve had success with those items though on the expride 7’3xh. It’s the goat frog rod. Sensitive for jigs and can surprisingly do moving baits if you’re around decent sized fish. I smack them on big gambler speed worms with a 1/4oz weight down in florida. As others have said, neither  pp or 735 is capable of those weights.

i have the PP Levante.  it throws a Magdraft fine.  if feels like a heavy lob, but i think that is natural.  it is just a heavy bait for me anyways.

 

i think the PP has backbone to spare.  i am gonna push the envelope and light-punch with it.    i am NOT great at walking a frog with the PP.  i just came into the frogs with a ligher rod and cant get the rhythm down..yet.
