Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 10, 2023 Super User Posted May 10, 2023 All I can say is wow. Very impressive accomplishment. https://www.outdoorlife.com/fishing/world-record-lake-trout/ 8 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted May 10, 2023 Super User Posted May 10, 2023 Wow! Not even full of eggs, but stuffed full of sockeye salmon. How does this thing even swim to catch its prey? What an insane catch. True monster. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 10, 2023 Author Super User Posted May 10, 2023 I saw a black & white photo of the 101 lb laker netted commercially up on Lake Athabaskan Canada. It had the same shape with the girth almost equal to the length. The conjecture was it was a non spawning fish spending all its energy feeding. A 40 lb lake trout is achievable on the right waters but not common. A 50lb laker is a true trophy by any standards. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 11, 2023 Global Moderator Posted May 11, 2023 Wow, that's pretty wild! 10lb line is quite impressive, and the fact that the fish is estimated to be around 57 years old. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted May 11, 2023 Super User Posted May 11, 2023 And they released it. So this thing is gonna go back to gorging itself on 100 Kokanee per day and get even bigger. I’d love to know how thick the Kokanee are stacked for this trout to be able to stuff itself like that. 1 Quote

How it can even catch these swift swimming salmon on a regular basis is an oddity in itself. 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 12, 2023 Author Super User Posted May 12, 2023 That sounds right. Lake trout grow up north slowly gaining between one & one & a half pounds per year. 1 Quote
