sacnho Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Just noticed today that both of my trailer tires are wearing uneven. The wear is on the inside of both. They are both bias ply. When I had these put on I was told to run them at 50lbs of pressure which I have. Any advice on steps I need to take to remedy this? Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 17, 2011 Super User Posted March 17, 2011 Just like in a car, uneven wear is an alignment problem. If the inner edges of both are wearing, it is possibly a bent axle. To picture this, imagine a hinge in the middle of the axle, and the hinge is pulled toward the ground. That will cause the tires to run on the inside edges. Quote
GTrombly Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 That's what I was thinking it was. I didn't know what else would cause that. Quote
Ellesar Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 It could also be a tire problem. When I bought the last boat I had the tires wore on the insides. I took it in and they checked the alignment, even talked to the factory and took a variety of measurements to make sure everything was ok. Nothing seemed out of place. They replaced the tires and never had a problem again. Quote

It may appear fine from the outside but it often results in uneven wear. I asked him this because one of my trailer tires was wearing uneven. Also could be out of align or bent axle as already stated. Quote

I've got the same problem but only on one side. Is there a fix for the bent axle or does it have to be replaced? Quote
