Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 8, 2023 Super User Posted May 8, 2023 For a couple of weeks now my right hip feels like it pops out of joint slightly with nearly every step I take. It doesn’t hurt at all, but has me wondering what could be going on …??? 1 Quote
newriverfisherman1953 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Get it checked out before it gets worse. 2 Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 9, 2023 Super User Posted May 9, 2023 The lack of pain is surprising....... thankfully? Everyone over 60 on the wife's side of the family has had successful hip surgery/replacement with stellar results. Wife will be next very soon. Get that checked out, likely an easier fix then you may think. 2 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 9, 2023 Super User Posted May 9, 2023 See your doc for a checkup (plus an x-ray for OA?) and get into PT. Not being limited by pain should make it quite a bit easier to "fix" vs waiting until it eventually starts to hurt. 1 Quote
Captain Phil Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Don't panic, but don't wait either. Go see an orthopedic doctor. You need an MRI to find out what's going on. A general practitioner is just that. 1 Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted May 9, 2023 Super User Posted May 9, 2023 Get checked out like others have said. my right hip bothers me from time to time especially when weather changes like fall to winter winter to spring. I’ve already got a big plate holding my pelvis together. I guess the screws holding the plate have extra bone growth around them that’s in the hip socket I guess. They said they could go in and remove the plate and screws and grind the bone growth but it’s high risk. Told me to live with the discomfort and come back when I’m older if it’s unbearable this was when I was 32 I’m 36 now. 1 Quote

Sorry to hear of your hip problem. From my experience, you are receiving good advice. My back issues were diagnosed ten years ago. I was told to hold off on surgery to see if I could live with my problem. As it turned out I got progressively worse, so I opted for surgery two years ago. Surgery can fix many things, it can't roll back the clock. Too many people these days think surgery is the answer to everything. This includes both physical as well as psychological pain. What happens is not what they think. Often you end up trading one pain for another. There is no such thing as a 100% pain free life. Your body will tell you when it's time. Quote
