Ski Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Can you imagine having 5 fish for 29.75 pounds and finishing 22nd ? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 7, 2023 Global Moderator Posted May 7, 2023 Yep Doesn’t surprise me at all, I know the feeling The Lake has been fishing really good lately. Most times Jared and a few of the others on that board are really tough to beat Mike 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 7, 2023 Super User Posted May 7, 2023 That performance is making it look a lot better. Twenty teams over 30 lbs is pretty impressive. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted May 7, 2023 Super User Posted May 7, 2023 To be fair it was a rare day on an otherwise big Bass factory. The Elite series was there recently and during better times for bigger bags, and Rivet never hit 30lbs all four days: "After placing third on Day 1 with 24-5, Rivet gained one spot with a second-round limit of 29-2 on Friday. A slower Saturday yielded only 14-11 and Rivet dropped back to third. But he turned in a Championship Sunday bag that went 18-13 to seal the deal and collect the $100,000 top prize." It was an anomaly to a large degree, the bigger fish were just super turned on that day. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted May 7, 2023 Super User Posted May 7, 2023 So much for the stories,I’ve been hearing that they sprayed the lake and it decimated the bass.? 1 Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 8, 2023 Global Moderator Posted May 8, 2023 @TOXIC They sprayed around the shoals, Indian Prairie and Governor’s Cut. It’s like it is every year, you gotta pick your spots in the right areas and you’ll find them. There’s clean water on the river from Scott Driver ramp north and just outside the Harney Pond area. I heard So Bay isn’t too bad. I haven’t heard much about the east side tho. Mike 1 1 Quote

Mike The spraying and the major tournament scheduled the same week we were planning to go last February pushed us to find another lake. The year before we did “ok” on the big O (thanks for the info) but some of the less experienced in our group had a very tough time there. We opted for Headwaters just to try something new since we had been to Okeechobee, and Kissimmee multiple times and we really had a good time except for the lodging and that nasty access road. We are setting up for next February and are looking at returning to Headwaters or possibly trying somewhere new like Harris Chain or Rodman. Florida is one of my 2 away trips, the other is Lake St Clair which we will be leaving in about two weeks. 3 Quote
