unbelievable.  i fished in a rain storm yesterday, and the fish were super picky.

i tried reaction baits and got no love.  wacky Senko was sniffless.  i found this pack of plastics i bought on a whim, when i ordered a few O$P and Deps$ crankbaits.  i rigged one, on my texas rig because i was too lazy to retie a free-rig.  texas rig it is!!  first cast, i felt the unmistakeable buzz of electricity on the end of the line.  i lean into it and boat a 1.5.  after that it was on!   i tried a small brush hog, a z-man craw, another creature and i got ZERO.  switch back to the newbie bait and wham.  even my tried and true drop shot was a waste of "bringing that rod"

i was thinking to myself..why do the bass like  this one?  dunno.  i vowed to find a cheaper replacement.  i went to bed.  i woke up last night and ordered 6 packs.  hahahha..

the OSP Dolive line of baits is madness.  i ordered more and will try it on the CA Delta and Clearlake.  i dont think they see it that often.  yesterday's MVP was the Dolive Beaver.  3.5"  kinda small, so i ordered the 4" version for a bit more bulk.  they are every bit as fragile as a Yamamoto Senko.   in Business talk i think they call it, "built in obsolesence".  but the fragility lends the bait a wiggle wobble that apparently works.  i think pitching the 4" into the weeds is gonna kill it.

yesterday, even my best finesse jig game was unanswered.

Haha...had this happen so many times. I stock up on a bait that never again has that "magical" day even in the same conditions.

when i hopped the bait, the "claws" would kick like a mermaid..okay a dolphin.  maybe better if i compared it to something that exists.  porpoise kicks.  tantilizingly.  the hit was always on the hop..never on the dead stick.

i actually told my bud loudly, "i'm getting hit on the Beaver!!"  i might need to give the bait a code-name.

Haven't tried the OSP beaver...it looks similar to the brush hogs I use with the swim tails trimmed.  The dolive craws are money, and I'm going to try the shrimp next order....

Dolive shrimp...

For me it's the jackall dead fin darter.  My fish see every variation of a stick worm pitched to docks and turn off to them by late spring.  Skip this weird flat soft jerkbait looking thing to them and let it death spiral in their face and they will always pick it up.  I've got a little stash of them from whatever stock I could find.

Really like those dolive beavers on a jig, the 3.5 are a nice size.  They are quite expensive for a trailer though.

Love the Dolive Beavers. I always have one tied on. I use it as jig trailer, on a free rig, and the 3in is killer on a Ned Rig.  My favorite color has been green pumpkin chartreuse.

I was lucky and found some for $4-5 a pack at a Japanese site early last year but I can't remember which one. I searched my emails and orders but no luck. They are great but I am not sure if they are $10 a pack great.  I think for what they are, $7-$8 would not be unreasonable.

Would something like this be a good substitute for a bull flat?

worth a shot. the bull flat looks less rounded which gives it the gliding action but it looks close.

do you mind sharing how you are rigging these?.  i have the 3.5 and i rigged it with a 6/0 Beast hook and i am FISHLESS.  i mean it looks good to me drifting downwards, but i havent gotten a bite yet.  for the money, i hope to at least catch ONE FISH.    i might try texas rigging one next.  let it free drift some.

i fish them on a free rig in summer. i give it big hops so the sinker seperates alot. the glide is the key to bait.i was fishing it on a hover strolling head. 3/64 ounce very light.the weight is down the hook of the shaft so the bait glides and darts. the head is made by core tackle.

It's definitely a fish catcher , rigged on a weighted screw lock hook it has a unique death spiral. That said small fish love to rip the small paddletail so you will go through them quickly .

The Deps version drifts better in my friends swimming pool.   But even more $ I think.  Smaller package.
