Dannyinorthidaho Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I got one of these. I ordered delta red? couldn’t resist! Has anyone done good on it? Particularly on smallmouth? Dives 3-5 ft. They say it moves well through grass better than other hard baits. I guess somebody needs to try n come up with something! I’ve yet to get out since selling my great boat but I do have a new outcast cruzer float tube. I appreciate the feedback Quote
Solution Captain Phil Posted May 5, 2023 Solution Posted May 5, 2023 In last year's B.A.S.S. tournament, guys were killing it with the Hybrid Hunter. I ordered one and threw it a few times. It does run in shallow grass pretty well. Other than that, I haven't thrown it much. 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 I was throwing the same one last week (delta red junior version). I have fished the bigger one before. It comes through sparse grass better than a lipless or other lipped crankbait. But its not a cureall and you'll still pick up a lot of grass. A high rod tip seemed to help a bit (yes it was running shallower then so that helps too). Quote
Standard Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Love the hybrid hunters. Picked up a few last season, along with the smaller jr size. Smallies love 'em, too. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 Pre-spawn, shallow flats the Hybrid Junior works very well. Might dive a little less than its big brother, and resists emerging vegetation this time of year fairly well. 2 Quote
Pat Brown Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 It's my favorite shallow crankbait around wood when the water is warmer. It seems to come through laydowns better than any crankbait I've ever used. I can't comment on the efficacy of it in grass but I've never liked any lipped baits in grass. 1 Quote
HudsonAngler Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I've used the strike king shallow water hybrid hunter in the past and have had some success with it, particularly in shallow waters and around grass. The delta red color should work well in stained water. As for advice, try varying your retrieval speed and using a twitch-pause retrieve to mimic a wounded baitfish 2 Quote
Dannyinorthidaho Posted May 7, 2023 Author Posted May 7, 2023 Hey guys, good job I appreciate your great feedback.?? Really good to hear your results . I’m really Looking forward to using my hybrid hunter I’ll buy the jr . It’s big brother has a pretty big profile Quote
Greenback Hunter Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Hey I've got a question about the Hybrid Hunter and it's still May. Which 1 of the colors looks most like a bluegill? Hybrid Hunter @ Strike King Thanks Quote
KP Duty Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I've caught quite a few fish on the yozuri version thats been around for years. Quote
