Blake_Denver Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Hello everyone! I finally found my ideal boat for southwest Missouri without paying an arm and a leg. It's a 1993 Tracker Tournament V17, perfect for taking some wake on Table Rock and Stockton while floating shallow down Taneycomo. I wish the engine was a little bigger but it should still get me around no problem. I do have a few questions you may be able to answer. Is this the correct oil to use for the VRO oil injectors? Evinrude Johnson 779718 E-Tec 50 2-Cycle Outboard Motor Oil I was looking to install onboard charging/maintainer for the Motorguide Digital Tour 24v trolling motor, any recommendations? Option 1: Pro Mariner Option 2: NOCO Genius Option 3: Minn Kota Others? The fish finder / depth gauge has seen better days, any budget recommendations? Thanks for the help, I look forward to reading and contributing to the forms. 5 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 I have a MK and a NOCO. Both work just fine. There is a whole world of electronics from which to choose. I suggest that you go over to Bass Pro and talk to some of the sales guys. They can explain the functions of different brands and units. if you run into electrical issues you may want to call Scott Robinson at Marine Repair Center on National just south of Division 417-833-9191. Good luck. I hope you enjoy your boat. 2 Quote
Super User GaryH Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 First welcome aboard Blake. As @Jig Man stated Minn Kota or Noko are good chargers. I run MK on board for my boat but I have a Noko for use in the garage. As far as electronics price is the big factor along with ease of use. Go to a store and try different brands that are in your price range and see which one suits your needs. Good luck on your new boat purchase and post some pics. 1 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Welcome! Great looking boat, congrats! I have a Pro Mariner, excellent unit. Electronics are very much a "what do you want" and "what you can afford" decision. I've been running Minn Kota 40lb All Terrain trolling motor for 20+ years...moves my little boat around well. Found a Garmin ECHOMAP 73sv on clearance for $499 at Scheels a few years back...does what I need it to do. My brother has the 112lb Ulterra and 9" Hummingbird finder...really cool! Very different price points. Get that boat on the water and chase fish!! Good luck! 1 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new rig! The 60 should move that along pretty good! As far as 2 stroke oil, you could use that, but any TCW-3 rated oil will be just fine. I used the Walmart brand in my old OMC 2 stroke and put on way more hours than the average person and never had an issue. It's significantly cheaper than what you picked. As for electronics what are you looking to spend. There is a very wide range of prices and features and "budget" is definitely a relative term. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 5, 2023 Super User Posted May 5, 2023 You got good answers here already. Just stopping to say those were really cool little boats that could handle all sorts of water well. 1 1 Quote

airshot Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Nice boat, I have it's cousin, a Sylvan model, but mine has a 40 hp and she does 31 mph when trimmed on spot !! Get chargers for all your onboard batteries then tie them all into one plug. I have one charger for two group 31 trolling motor batts and another for the group 31 house battery and another battery and charger for the start battery. One plug and all stay charged.. I have a Lowrance HD with down scan, fanciest fish finder I ever owned, but...do go shopping and try them all. Any good TCW3 oil will work, I have used Pennzoil for more years than I have fingers and toes with never an issue. Post some more pics and enjoy !!! Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 6, 2023 Super User Posted May 6, 2023 Don’t need individual battery chargers. NoCo Genius Pro 10X3 for 3 batteries, 10X4 for 4 batteries. Nice boat enjoy it before trying to upgrade stuff before you know what you need. Tom 1 Quote
GRiver Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Nice rig, post some more pics of it. I agree with @WRB fish out of it, enjoy it. Make it safe and sound, then use it for a bit. As far as the electronics, it’s mind boggling on options out there., and pricey too. I’ve got a cheap under$100.00 dollar hummingbird. For where and how I fish it works for me. Be safe out there. Blake_Denver Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 Had an eventful weekend, went over to Stockton Lake, Missouri on Saturday and fished with a friend on his boat, didn't catch anything. Sunday I took my boat down to Table Rock but couldn't get my motor started, ended up needed to spin the flywheel to get the starter back down and the battery being almost dead, it was alot of driving for nothing. Tuesday, after recharging the battery and running the engine in my driveway I went back down to Table Rock and it started right up. The trolling motor worked for around 20 minutes then quit. The batteries are good so I'll change out the ring terminals because they are old and see if that works. The rest of the afternoon I tied up to trees and fished from a stationary position. Ended up catching two smallmouth on a weightless Texas rig with a Gary Yamamoto Senko in Watermelon/Black Flake. The next thing I noticed was the boat pulling hard to the right when underway, I'm going to mess with the trim tab on the outboard to see if that will help, if not I'll look at the steering lines. Any suggestions what else to check out? 2 Quote
