Dumbbassanglr Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Never get rid of an 844. That is in the Mount Rushmore of rods. 1 Quote
Cbump Posted May 6, 2023 Author Posted May 6, 2023 Maybe I need to force myself to use It more. So far it’s good at everything but not great at anything imo. What’s It best for in your opinion @Dumbbassanglr 1 Quote

What’s It best for in your opinion @Dumbbassanglr I don’t know the rod you are talking about but keep fishing it. I’m willing to bet it will all come together for you. Others seem to like it. Last June when I retired a couple of work buddies bought me a Victory VTS73MXF. At first it was a hate hate relationship. I tried to like it. I tried to fish it as much as possible. In my hands it felt too weird to me. The fore end was too long for my liking. But it’s not, I was not fishing that handle correctly. This past fall I took it to the Lower Chesapeake Bass fishing and it was 2 days of a half decent bite. LM and everything else was hitting. Found out that my hand position had to be corrected between the reel seat and the fore end. I realize this might not be the same problem as you have but what I thought was gonna be a disaster has worked out great. Was easy enough to adjust to. At first my mind didn’t want to. Those Victory rods are nice. I like all my SC rods. Great for soft plastics. I had been kicking around a second, thought the VTS71MF would be a better all around, a bit slower tip. After touching it numerous time over the winter I finally bought the dang thing the other day. It will work out fine now that I have that longer fore end figured out. I hope it works out better for you this season. Quote

Love to hear about the 7'4H/MF when you get some time with it. I have 4 Adrenas now, 3 that I bought used, and I love their sensitivity, action, and aesthetics. But, there is no rod that I've ever seen that is more prone to cosmetic only blank rash. You don't have to baby it at all for use, but for looks, it needs a rod sleeve and care. scott 1 Quote

So I ordered the 7’2” HF also. I wanted a bottom contact rod. So when they both get here, the 7’4” is getting returned. (unless it’s so awesome in hand that I want to keep It and I can sneak It by the wife lol) Jk Quote

Feels like a MH but sneaky powerful, and I use it for everything but it excels at t-rig and jig. scott 2 Quote
Cbump Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 I’m wondering now…. I use the orochi perfect pitch specifically for magdrafts and small glides like an s-waver 120. Would the 7’4” Adrena be better for that? I’d sell the orochi if so. Quote
