Super User ChrisD46 Posted April 28, 2023 Super User Posted April 28, 2023 Trying to decide between the Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw and the Z-Craw Jr. as a bluegill imitating swim jig trailer ? Your opinions ? Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted April 28, 2023 Super User Posted April 28, 2023 Wow My answer is… yes Take your pick 1 Quote
Pat Brown Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 I like the Xzone Swammer 4" in 309/green pumpkin blue flake/perch and bluegill and the Gambler EZ Swimmer 4.5" in the gold rush, red ear and 49er colors. 1 Quote

I fish pretty much only lakes where bluegill is the primary bait fish and very often use a green pumpkin rage craw on a bluegill colored swim jig and do well. Do I know if they think it’sa bluegill?? Nope but they sure eat them. 3 Quote

Just never thought of a literal craw imitator to be a bluegill imitator. I just look at the color, not the profile. A watermelon or green pumpkin craw with the tips of the claws dipped in chartreuse JJ's lot's a whole lot like a juvi bluegill coming through the water. Personally, I like a Rage Menace for a swim jig bluegill trailer, either Hard Candy or Moon Juice color. 7 Quote
Texas Flood Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 This what I use with my bluegill swim jigs. 3 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted April 28, 2023 Super User Posted April 28, 2023 I use craws or the Rage Tail Menace, often rigged vertically, when I want a bluegill imitator, which is pretty often. I don't know if rigging it vertically makes that much difference but I don't think it hurts. 2 Quote
GReb Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Keitech fat impact is my favorite but they are pricey and not durable. 1 Quote

Otter17 Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 My favorite setup is using the Dirty Jigs Swim Jig in Warmouth color with a Keitech Fat Swing Trailer in Crystal Shad color. 2 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 29, 2023 Super User Posted April 29, 2023 Keitech Fat Impact in Pro Staff is the best for bluegill pattern I have used. Allen Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted April 29, 2023 Super User Posted April 29, 2023 I throw either a keitech or a rage menace. They also double for other uses so I keep them stocked and pick based on the lake I’m on. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted April 29, 2023 Super User Posted April 29, 2023 It doesn’t matter. Just get the basic profile and retrieve correct, and you’re good. Been catching them here all week using 3” Charlie Brewer Slider Grubs and regular Roboworms as trailers. 1 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 I might have to try some of these on my 4 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 1, 2023 Author Super User Posted May 1, 2023 There are certainly a few things that will work - a Rage Menace in a Green Pumpkin variant would be tough to beat as would be some of the Gambler blue gill colors designed for Florida waters . 1 Quote
Tony Christian Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 Menace is good for cold water but when I want a larger belly profile like a bluegill and some roll a 4" largo shad is really good. Quote

Yes indeed. 1/4 oz Siebert Shot Caller and correct guesses! (The green one is 'Bluegill' but it's a general sunfish/perch imitator so we'll give that one to ya ?) Quote
