Online days pelican beam is 52...anyone used one of these harbor freight trailers.? I have one of these trailers and really like it. The one I got is 4 foot wide and 8 foot long and works great for my boat.  I believe my boat is right at 4 foot wide on the top side but it seems to narrow towards the bottom of the "pontoons".  However, my boat is older so the dimensions may not be the same as yours. The trailer pulls really well and is extremely light weight. It is a little tricky to back up since it is so short. I have considered putting a carpeted floor on it but if I'm using it strictly to haul my boat I figured what's the point. The boat sits on the cross rails just fine and I use ratchet straps to hold it down. I even mounted a Rubbermaid type box to the tongue area that holds my anchor and some other odds and ends. Quote

Vayned Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I've been looking at some on craigslist that I could take to small lakes that require electric only when I couldn't take out the Javelin, there is a 8ft and 10 ft. My bed in my ram 1500 is 5 1/2 ft long. Only thing I'm worried about is putting it in the bed by myself since I fish most by myself, do you think a trailer is necessary? Quote
GLK Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 A trailer for me  but I'm not as young as I used to be Quote

I have an 8 ft boat and without the trolling motor attached or the battery in, it is incredibly light and you would have no issues putting it in  and out of the bed of your truck by yourself.  This is how I started out.  I just found it a little time consuming waiting until I got to the water to put everything in, so I went ahead and bought a trailer. I have the 10' and hauled it by myself in my truck bed all last season. It was ok, but you'll have to make a dolly to roll it down to the water. Even if you're only moving it 10 feet or so, you want to avoid scraping it up. The only reason I want a trailer is so I would be able to hit 2 lakes in a day. I can't do that with this set up. I not doing two launches and two load ins from the back of the truck, no way. I'm looking for a jet ski trailer right now. They seem a little hard to come by, because most have the d**n jet ski with it Quote

Do you plan on having this rod holder with the rods in the air in front of or behind you in the boat? Having them in the air would not work for me, we have too many trees in the water, but I'm curious, for more open lakes. 15 hours ago, Vayned said: I've been looking at some on craigslist that I could take to small lakes that require electric only when I couldn't take out the Javelin, there is a 8ft and 10 ft. I am not exactly a strongman and I put mine in my truck by myself. But it isn't exactly a piece of cake. I get it done, though. Just pick up one corner end of it and slide it up to your tailgate. Then slide it over so it's square. Then pick up the back end and slide it in. Quote

I devised a rope and hook to hold the boat in place for when I bring the boat up onto the tailgate so it doesn't roll backwards while I get behind it to lift it up. I'll post a pic if it works. The worst part of using the truck bed, is the various inclines you find near the water at different lakes. At some lakes the tailgate is 2 ft higher then it is in my flat driveway. Sometimes its just easier to face the lake with the cab and walk the boat around to the back for loading. I definitely want a GD trailer..lol Quote
Tommy X Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I just started a new thread under The Bass boat forum. its called Bass Raider Meet Up. We are trying to get a mini bass boat meet up and fun tournament together in York Pa this May. If interested swing by the thread and post! Quote

As you know, the further outside the boat's centerline you distribute your weight the less stable the boat becomes. Here you go, though I'm not really sure of its value. Not a 10e but pretty close       Looks like an older Bass Hunter.Did you do the paint on it.? I have one that is 30 years old and thinking about doing some camouflage paint  on it. Quote
livemusic Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Motorguide makes a portable, foot-controlled trolling motor called Bulldog 54, it has 54 lbs thrust. I note that it has 5 speeds, so, does that mean it is not one of the new technology digital motors that provides much long run times due to a more efficient use of the battery? I think those are variable speed with infinite 'settings?' Also, does anyone use one of these on a Bass Raider type boat? Is there room to put it in front of you so that you are not too cramped up? I also note that this model has a 30 inch shaft. I figured it was 36". I hope 30" fits the Bass Raider okay. I don't see one like this from Minn Kota. Lastly, I have a Minn Kota Endura 50, transom mount. I use it fine on my pond jumper boat and also my jon boat. Does anyone know if there is a foot control gizmo that I can attach to this trolling motor? Seems I have seen one. If so, I wouldn't have to buy a Bulldog. (EDIT: I found it, it is called Troll King. I wonder if it works good!) Let me know, thanks. Quote

Construct something like this.  This one is available at Dick's sporting goods for $30 but is only rated at 100 lbs. You could use a small boat winch to operate it. I would construct a small flat wooden cradle wider than the boat width to go under the boat so that the straps don't squeeze the sides of the boat in over time. good luck. Harry53 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Harbor freight has a bicycle lift kit for around 10 bucks that should work well for a bass raider. Quote
johnkn Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I saw that lift and sure wouldn't want to hang a 150 lb boat or 250 lbs with battery, motor, etc. from it. Â It's designed for a 20 lb bike. Â especially with a car and/or people under it. Â Quote

I have my 10e stored in my 1 car garage on top of my 4x4 atv's. I want to store it hanging from the cross beams of my steel carport above my pick up. Anybody here store their boat by hanging it? And if so how? Thanks. I recently hung my Pelican 12' Intruder from my carport which is just standard height. I used two bicycle hangers rated at 100 lbs each, the boat is listed at 127 lbs. Holds it just fine. I'd post pics but since I'm a noob I guess I can't. Quote
therivermonster Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Hello all! This is my first post to the forum, but I've been visiting for a while. Recently I picked up a new Bass Raider from Dick's. Fresh off the show room floor we strapped her in the pickup and headed to the lake. It's a great little boat in it's stock configuration for sure, and very stable. The thing is, it's a great platform to be improved and the little boat is just begging for it... The Bass Raider is small enough and light enough to load up into my pickup easily with two people. After using the boat a few times with two people, gear and a 45lb thrust trolling motor in the back, we tried it in the front. The motor does work better in the front, but the tail likes to swing a lot more with the motor pulling instead of pushing. To resolve this issue, I scavenged an old trolling motor my brother gave me and made a rudder/keel of sorts like some of you have. I also used the bottom of the shaft to mount the transducer for my Humminbird Helix 7. I haven't used it yet, but it seems like it will work well. With the rudder and transducer taken care of, it was time to figure out how to mount the sonar screen to the boat in a fashion that would be usable in a number of configurations without having to drill a bunch of holes in the boat. To accomplish this, I constructed a little table from PVC and wood from ideas in this thread. I haven't tried any of this out yet, but it looks like it will work well with one or two people in the boat. If it's just me in the boat, I'll have the little table up front. If I am with someone, the table works well in the middle of the boat so we can both use the table as well as see the sonar. I added a second shelf on the bottom of the frame to hold the little gel cell battery and counter the leverage effect of the screen when it is leaned out. It seems to work well and keep some of the wires out of the way. It also adds some storage rigidity. After I use the table a little bit, I'll get a better feel as to what I would like to add to it, like shelves, other storage, etc. Only then will I take the time to finish it with a bit of sanding and paint. When I get some of that done, I'll be sure to post the progress up here. Until then, happy fishing everyone, and thanks for having me. -TRM 5 Quote

dman Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Therivermonster - great job....your going to love the rudder you made, makes a world of difference!  I like your table, I have something similar for my fishfinder but always kept the little battery on the side storage area of the boat - its always in the way so im gonna see about adding that shelf.....I added measurement markings on my table so that I can quickly lay a fish down and measure it without having to get anything else out - but thats about all i've done to it haha 1 Quote
therivermonster Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 dman, that's a great idea. I'm going to paint it all soon, and put a couple layers of clear on, so maybe I'll get a stick on piece of measuring tape, then clear over that. I can't wait to try it all out, but it's still going to be a few weeks I'm afraid. I'm on call for work this week, and going after turkeys next weekend. I suppose I can't complain too much. I'll post pics when I get the chance. Quote
