Tfultz I like that. I have a jet ski trailer and had trouble loading it back on as Im not to strong in my older years. I really like your design. Did you weld the front cross stringer?

This is the third one I've built, I've found out that bolting it on works best. Welding it makes the trailer to ridged if that makes since. Welds tend to break and some people say welding weakens the tung. Im not a professional welder so..the design seems to work really well!

What is that front from?

It made it. Its a piece of 3" channel 1/8 thick. The side pieces are 2" channel 1/8 thick. Got it at the local steel place in town. Welded it up. I still need to paint the trailer tho.

I would like to try to glue or epoxy a cleat or two on my bass raider.  Any suggestions about type or method?

I don't think an adhesive will hold due to the temperatures and the expansion and contraction. I would  use a rivnut.

I'll look into this.  Thanks!

I put

Cleats on the plywood floor and carpet I installed. With the weight of the battery on top of the floor, the anchor never came close to pulling out the floor. Working so far.

I have had the 40lb version since the week it came out.  Love it.

It will work on the bow but you dont have as much turning in one direction unless you pop the cover off the top and adjust it for the bow and it works even better.  Not hard to do at all.

Just purchased a Bass Raider 10e at Academy last week and ordered a Minn Kota endure max 55b trolling motor to pair with it.  3 questions:

1. Any suggestions on good padded seats to replace the non-padded ones... AND...

2. Suggestions on a NOT so HEAVY deep cycle battery  (would like to keep it under 30lbs).  Getting too old to be lugging around 55 lb battery...AND

3. I will be hauling the boat in the back of my pickup.. Any suggestions on a dolly.. I saw some Kayak dollies at Cabelas online that might work.  Just need one for the times I'm fishing alone..

Thanks and I'm jazzed about getting out there and wetting a hook in the new boat.

You can purchase padded seats very similar to the ones included with the boat @ Academy.  Not familiar with a battery under 30 lbs.  I purchased a 24 series at Autozone and it's about 42 lbs,  Best battery I've ever owned.  Fish 4 - 5 hours and only use about 25% of charge.

1. I've tried the padded version of the stock seat sold at Academy, leaves a little to be desired IMO. Personally, I'd go with a quality boat seat...your choice of features and price.

2. Not familiar with a "NOT so HEAVY" deep cycle battery. One thing you can try is not lifting it any higher than required. Several ways to accomplish this...not familiar with your setup.

3. Can't help you there as I lift mine in n out, slide into water.

Congrats on the new purchase, lots of great info in this thread, let us know how your maiden voyage goes :photography-044:

Thanks for the info on the seat.  Thought upgrading to a regular high back boat seat would be better but a little more $$s.  I'll go that route...

Just a quick note on the seat, proper (comfortable) height is of paramount consideration. You'll arrive at the right height for you pretty quickly.

There is a smaller, powerful trolling motor battery available: the AGM from Cabelas.  I use the size 22 version, which weighs about 35 pounds. I have never had it run down during a day of fishing with a MK Endura 40. Also available are the newer Lithiun Ion batteries, but the cost is very high.

Thanks for the info on the seats and battery. I was considering the Cabelas agm 22 since it is on sale. I'll give it a shot.

Agreed on the height issue. Just need to mount one on the rail and check it. Good advice. Thanks

The seat upgrade makes a HUGE difference for a day on the water, even for me who stands and fly fishes most of the time.

This is the seat I got.

I also added fly rod holders and a paddle holders this year.  Also got it registered :)

Thanks for the info on the seat.  You have a nice rig.  Is that the paddle holder on the left side (facing the camera) mounted on the outside?  Also, did you use YAK rod holders and paddle holders?  Thanks!

No problem & thanks!

I mounted the paddle holders on both sides actually.  I usually have a paddle on one side, and a telescoping boat hook on the other.  Yes, mounted on the outside.  I used stainless steel screws with mariene grade silicone sealer.  I saw the other posts about rivnuts...might try those if I feel the screws are getting loose.  I might have gone that direction if I had known about them earlier.  I got Scotty holders.

I'm still debating an anchor system like this:

Thanks again for the info. Links to Amazon are very helpful for the Scotty products.  I also like the anchor rig option, wish I had the $$s for a micro power pole setup.. But it cost as much as the boat.....

My foot pedal is dead horizontal when I attached my unit to bow. If I swung the mount around to make it work on transom, that's when I have directional restrictions. Strange  :confused50:

Ahh they may have changed it then. I bought mine first week they came out. I had limited movement for a hard left turn.
