Hey everyone, been reading all the great ideals and finally registered an account. I just bought a pelican 10e yesterday and like most I can't wait to do some customizing. I've read a lot about ppl having trouble with wind blowing these little boats around or drifting off fishing sight. Has anyone tried a power pole micro anchor? I have one added to shopping cart on bass pro but was looking for some input before I spent the $$$. Any opions or ideals are greatly appreciated.

I have one on my jon boat and I love it. Soon, I'll be buying a clamp mount for my coleman perch so I can swap it back and forth from boat to boat.

It is true that you can get blown around in the wind trying to fish a spot. I have a small anchor that the son puts out if we feel the need. We have actually only used it once though. Might be because of its "convenience". I imagine the micro power pole would indeed get more use but I cannot see spending as much on it as the boat itself cost (for myself).

As far as a rudder goes, I made one out of pvc pipe and its best asset is when we are under power, not much help when fishing a spot. still gonna get blown around. It might has helped with the "sailboating " (blowing in circles) a little but its main advantage is the straight line it can help keep when under power.

I am still in search of a broken transom mount trolling motor to convert to a rudder that can be tilted, lowered and raised by just using its built in functions. The mount is mostly what i am after.

Very interesting creation. I might have to look into a rudder. Ordered the power pole, just can't imagine fishin without one any more. I've fished tournaments for yrs. Decided to take a break. Partner sold the boat so this will keep me prowling around marinas and small lakes for now. I'm really gonna focus on learning crappie.

What kind of trolling motor do you have? I have a bowmount trolling motor, so I made the deck, bolted the motor to it, and just extended the power cable so it could reach the back where the battery is. Also, if you make the deck, I highly recommend you sink the trolling motor down cause it makes the foot pedal so much more comfortable to use.

I have a motorguid tiller motor. how did you extend the power cable?

Just bought some wire from Home Depot and soldered it to the power cables on the trolling motor. Also put some connectors on the ends of the cables so it can still be bolt down to the battery. Made it long enough so that it go under the deck to the battery in the back. So you do have a foot pedal with your trolling motor?

So ready for spring. Cover should be here soon! Only took three years to find one that's trailerable.post-38225-0-43492200-1425745868_thumb.j

OK, so I have a question. Prepared to pick up a 10e soon and have read this thread front to back. A lot of good stuff in here. My question is the transducer mounted on the TM. Does it affect the image you see on your unit? I've researched this and there seems to be differing opinions. To me it's logical that it would, especially with DSI. Regular 2D imaging perhaps not so much, but DSI is very directional and sweeps a narrow thin path to provide increased resolution. When you change the direction of that sweep (changing the position/direction of the TM), you also change the orientation of what is seen on the screen. The "expert" at bass pro made a pretty convincing case, anyone have any experience or tech facts to refute that? Thanks in advance...

I found it at boatcoversdirect.com. Price isn't to bad. As far as transducer goes, I haven't noticed anything odd. It's been there for two, three years.

Do you have a unit with DSI?

Thanks for the link

Had my 10e for about a week. Finally getting things under way. Found a jet ski trailer to customize, went to Academy and bought several unique items all made by attwood. Led clamping spotlight and clamping running lights were among the coolest. But has anyone have experience with putting screws or rivets on these boats? Any problems screws pulling out? The rivets for kayaks and small boats seem like they'd work.

Thanks,

John

there is john boat seat clamps that would probably work. But from what I've heard, you aren't really able to lean back too hard.

I have a pelican bass raider 8'. I would really like to build a casting deck on the front or something i can store tackle under. Also, my troller motor and battery are in the back and its so unlevel and if i sit in the front, i cant reach the trolling motor. so is there like an extension wire i can buy to extend from the battery to the trolling motor. thanks

I have this exact boat. I just purchased a 4x8 sheet of treated 3/4" plywood, as well as a 5 foot roll of 6' grey outdoor carpet from Lowe's. I also bought a    pedestal seat mount from Walmart. I'm going to build two small platforms for casting decks as well as removing the fold down plasic seats from the brackets they are attached to and mounting them on the pedestals so one has room to rotate 360 degrees if need be. I think this would make the boat night and day better to fish out of.

Yes, all you do is unscrew the plastic seat and install that one.

Great - thanks!  I ordered a camo one :)

Been out 7 times since I bought the pelican 10e. I paid more for a power pole micro anchor than I did the boat and I strongly recommend to anyone. I cannot imagine fishing without it. My friends kinda laugh when they see it but they see me out on the main lake when wind is blowing 28mph and I'm sitting perfectly still or when I'm trying to boat a fish I can just press the button and not worry about becoming blown on the shore or on top of stumps. No way associated with power pole and do not receive money or discounts from them. Just grateful for mine.

. Got any pics? Was looking at a talon for mine but, after seeing the actual size and weight, would of been a bit much!

Yeah I'm in town right now headed to the lake. I'll take some when I get there. I think the whole unit weighs 20lbs.
