sctrailhiker Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I just bought a battery box for mine and mounted my fire ex. on the front of it. I take it out when ever I'm on the road. Works great for me. Quote
basshead1 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Same here. This and the size 29 battery do the trick and they stay put while on the water. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 My dad just got one yesterday! Pumped up to try it out soon. 1 Quote
TNReb Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I've been tossing around the idea of a "plastic boat" for a while and read all 79 pages of this thread over the course of the last week. I've decided on a Pelican 10E with a MK Endura Max 50. Hope to pull the trigger and get it within the next week... unless I change my mind on the motor before then. 1 Quote
pointhunter75 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Have a bass raider 10e. Deciding between a Suzuki 2.5 4stroke and Yamaha 2.5 4stroke. Which should i get? Can get either for pretty much same price. Is the 15" long enough? Only mercury offers a 20" Quote
tseanw Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 i want an outboard motor also, are u paying retail cause id like to find a deal. Quote

Deciding between a Suzuki 2.5 4stroke and Yamaha 2.5 4stroke. Which should i get? Can get either for pretty much same price. Is the 15" long enough? Only mercury offers a 20" I would go with whichever is lighter and maybe do a google search for reviews. And yes 15 is great. I have one of them 3.5 hangkais with a 15 inch shaft and it works great and I got it for less than 350 brand new. Quote
pointhunter75 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 This review gave the Suzuki the best buy victory due to weight and price. On forums I've read that it won't take quick throttle very good without bogging. I found the Yamaha, who they say has the best performance, for like $30 more shipped. People rave about the Yamaha being the best quality small outboard engine. It's 37 lbs and Suzuki is 30. 7lbs doesn't seem like that much of a difference for better quality and performance for near the same price. http://www.motorboatsmonthly.co.uk/gallery/show?id=34394 1 Quote
pointhunter75 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Basshead, me and my brother bought the endura max 45 in the last 3 weeks. Cheapest place was pricefalls.com, his shipped next day and had it 3 days later. Mine took a week to ship. Worth the wait for $193 shipped! They had a 10% off of the $203 price at the time! Plus minn kota has a mail in rebate right now so I'll end up paying $173 in the end. Can't beat that! The 50 lb is $219. Hope this helps you out! http://www.pricefalls.com/product/Endura-Max50/7313195 Quote
tfultz Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 After viewing this sight I'm selling my alum boat and getting a 10e. My question is you guys who have filmed your fishing success how and what do you film with? I use a gopro. There nice and has a wireless remote! Quote
tfultz Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Sort of a funny question but for those of you with Bass Hunters where do you put your registration numbers so they aren't below the water line? The Bass Hunters don't have the large top part of the pontoons like the Bass Raiders do and they dont sit as high off of the water. I bought a waterproof "capsule" from a dive shop. Works great. I use a rubber light pole mount i got from walmart to hold it. Quote
kwaldeier Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 How deep does everybody like their rudders and trolling motors? Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 How deep does everybody like their rudders and trolling motors? I have my trolling motor mounted on the front. I have it deep enough to just clear the sides when I turn it. I'm not real sure how far it is under the water, though. The rudder is the same way, just under the surface of the water and it's about 9" tall. Quote

Has anyone ever heard of these Pitboss's? Interesting little boat - how much are these running? There are so many different types of small boats it's hard to choose. Quote
slugbug Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 The website shows $459 for 1 or $798 for 2. I may just get the Pelican for the carry space. This would be better than a Kayak imo. Quote

Has anyone ever heard of these Pitboss's? For that price you can get an 8 foot Bass Raider and for cheaper you can get an inflatable pontoon kickboat and stores smaller. I feel like I would get it on the water and spin around in circles in that thing. For someone that lives in a small apartment with no storage at all and doesn't trust an inflatable this may be a good option though. I think they will need to bring down the price a bit too. Quote

As a kayaker I am offended by this remark. Have you ever paddled a kayak? There are some badass kayaks out there right now and if this was better than a kayak then I think there would be more than 1 dealer out there. Quote
slugbug Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Ah, dont be offended… I once thought about getting a kayak but the length and closeness to the water didn't appeal to me. For my budget a decent kayak that sat me up high enough to be comfortable and stable (feeling) would shoot me well into the $1000.00 price range. I know there are plenty of "Accends and other Walmart type that would do just fine but the idea of a Pelican for size and higher placement works better for me. Swiveling around to get to my gear is easier when your my size. They are cool looking. 1 Quote
TNReb Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Finally picked up my 10E. Put in the carpeted floor like several folks recommended. It made it much better. In my opinion, everyone should do this! Quote
pointhunter75 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 May do mine with 1/4" but nothing thickerm it's already heavy enough. Who has gas engines in there's? My new yamaha 2.5 weights the back end down pretty bad. Cant imagine anything bigger on it. Quote

Nice looking setup - have you thought about making a rudder for it? Makes a world of difference. Took my sundolphin sportsman 8' out today - caught a few crappie and one LM. Quote
