uhhello Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Dropped just under 1200 today 500 for the boat, 190 for 45# Motorguide, 100 for battery and connectors, 60 for the minkotoa batt box, 70 for charger, and 200 for lowrance. Was very surprised at how much cheaper everything was at academy vs bass pro. Now just got to get it all ready for the water this weekend. Quote
tnriverluver Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I just bought 2 Elite 4 dsi gps units from Cabelas and they did include a Trolling motor mount even though it didn't show in the description. Quote
uhhello Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Sorry for all the posts guys but trying to get my boat situated. Going to bow mount my motor and have the plug needed but was wondering if I just cut and splice the plug? My concern is with my sonar. I was planning on mounting it to the motor but am worried about stripping everything down all the time. Its not so much the work but the wear and tear on the connections and what not. Will also need to splice more power wire into it to get her back to the battery in the rear. Like the idea of the transom mounted TM shaft transducer but haven't seen anything on craigslist for a LONG time. Going to give this a shot 1 Quote
OhioBassRaider68 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 WOW .. this thread is AMAZING ! so many great ideas out there. I am very excited cause in a week i am getting my Bass Raider 10E which i found on Craigslist for $500, it has been garage kept and only on the water 10 times ... comes with 55# thrust BassProShops trolling motor, Eagle fish finder, 2 oars, deep cycle battery with box, seats. I'm thinking it's a fair deal and i'm excited to get it as we have a bunch of small watersheds in my area that this will be perfect for .. Couple questions .. ( i'm sure they'll be more ) someone in an earlier post mentioned a really small charger that will just run the fish finder .. it recharges by plugging it in with an AC adapter .. made by Humminbird, this sounded like the way to go for the fish finder, any input. Also what size deep cycle battery would you recommend for the trolling motor as i may buy a new one so i have a spare, i just bought the Schumacher SC-100A charger from Northern Tool on sale for $53.99 Thanks for any suggestions .. 1 Quote
tnriverluver Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Just a little glamour shot of my little boat on Reelfoot lake this past weekend. Thank God the winds were calm for once!!!! Quote
West601 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Is it ok to put skrews in a two man boat? Quote
West601 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Does any one have a two man boat around Waco Texas. Quote
cbjfan75 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Ok, bought a used 10e this summer. Came with a 3HP 1961Evenrude and a rowing system. Have since bought a trailer and have been fishing like crazy. Today bought a Humminbird Fishin Buddy with the clamp mount, just curious if anybody knows of a way to rig this so it doesn't vibrate out of the holder while moving across the lake. So far I'm really regretting having purchased one if it doesn't even function while I'm moving. Quote

So far I'm really regretting having purchased one if it doesn't even function while I'm moving. I took some black elec tape and put 1 wrap on it, and it fit's snuggly in the holder. If I run the trolling motor wide open it will still pop out, but on slower trolling speeds it will hold just fine. Quote

West601 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 No I have not. To me a propeller is a propeller to i dont think it would make that big of a diffrence. Will it leak if I put skrews in the pelican bass raider? Quote
jeffo21 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 you can put the screws in but then seal them with some good silicone, so that it wont leak into the poontoons Quote
OhioBassRaider68 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Can anyone recommend some good rod holders for a Pelican Bass Raider 10E ... i don't mind if i have to mount the base with screws, was thinking about the Scotty Power Lock rod holders but they look kind of big ... do you have rod holders on yours and if so what kind ? THANKS ! Quote
mtdoramike Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 What's the best TM to buy? I use a Minn kota 55 pound thrust trolling motor on mine and it moves across the water quite rapidly. But it is a bit heavy for me to tote back and forth from the truck to the lake. Quote
jaaron01 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Has anyone bought 1 of these yet? MotorGuide® Bulldog Foot-Control Transom-Mount Trolling Motor - 54-lb. Thrust Quote
tnriverluver Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Did not know that trolling motor existed. Mighty tempted to get one as it would save me a lot of headaches in my soon to happen mods. After reading the reviews the one thing bad that stands out for my use on a jon boat is that it doesn't slide all the way up out of the way for stowage. I would have to remove it when trailering. Would be perfect on my Bass Hunter though since I remove everything anyhow!! May have to spend more money I don't have now, Thanks a lot Quote
West601 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Academy has the ten e for 549.99!!!!!! Quote
ARH4AU Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Academy has the ten e for 549.99!!!!!! I bought mine for $499 @ Academy last year. They always seem to have the lowest price on these. Quote
West601 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Academy is the cheap version on bass pro Quote
mtdoramike Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Cool what type of boat do u have? I have the Pelican Bass Raider 10 Quote
_Coelacanth_ Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I finally got to take my 10e out for its maiden voyage today! I didn't catch anything, but I had a great time and am overall very impressed with this little boat. The only complaints I have are minor. It wasn't very breezy out today, but it did seem that I got pushed around very easy, even with the rudder I made. I expect that this is just one of the trade-offs for having a lightweight, plastic boat. Not too big of a deal. I'll adjust my fishing accordingly and try to work with the drift and not against it. Although the 10e seems vey stable and I never worried about capsizing, when I would stand, I would get the sensation that the boat was going to "skate" out from under me to the side very quickly. I was trying hard each time to keep my weight centered, but it was still a little sketchy. I'm not sure if it was just me, and i need to get used to being on the water again (haven't fished out of a boat in a looong time, but always felt that I had a decent pair of sea-legs) or if it was just another characteristic of this type of boat. I was curious if anyone has made a carpeted, plywood floor for their Bass Raider, and if this might help with this issue. Quote
Jim McC Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I carpeted a piece of 1/4" luan plywood I had for the floor because I like to fish barefoot in the nice weather. It won't help the tippy feeling, but it feels better standing on it instead of the plastic ribbed floor. After you stand in it a few times, you will get used to it. Just keep your feet as far apart as possible. 1 Quote
