I put rod straps on the edge on both sides of mine. Right above where the cup holders are.

The Rod straps are to keep the rods in place (which is another mod i really should do after losing a $200 combo last season).... but i was asking more about mounting ideas for the head unit. its a Helix 5, so the screen is wider than it is taller, and id like to mount it towards the center of the boat, as most of the fishing i do is while standing in the back half. I thought I had saw a photo or video somewhere of a "clamp" style mount that was made to screw down on the outter rim of the boat.... but i cant seem to find it again.

OK. I misunderstood you. I mounted my 7 inch Garmin on the front right side of my deck. I can lay my rods down on the side and still have at least a foot of clearance between them and the unit.

I made a cheap mount for my 7” garmin that sits in one of the stock pole holders up front. Basically a wooden rod with rubber around it, I’ll try and get a pic this weekend

Yeah I actually purchased a Ram Mount and was able to mount it on one of the side rails in the center of the boat, and still have room to lay my poles down. I was leaning towards making a mount, but that Ram Mount only set me back about $40. Not bad....

Hey, do any of you guys have a Twin Troller X10?

I saw one on the water the other day and talked to the owner.  It seems like a really slick fishing platform and I am looking for more info on it.

I use velcro to attach my unit to the boat. Carpeted a piece of wood then mounted the unit to the block. It holds to the velcro with no issues and is easy to stick down and remove. I used small rivets on the strips just to make sure they stay in place.  The mount in my unit is the one it came with.

Hello all,

Great forum on this nice boat. I just picked up the Pelican bass raider 8e from my brother in-law who gave it to me! Hoping to figure out how to take it with me when I take my camper out. We haul a scooter , so the bed of the truck is out. Can't wait to use it. I added the seats and had the trolling motor.

Bassman33,

Any chance you can post some better pictures of how you made that seat bracket? Thanks.

New here! Joined because this seems to be the best bass raider resource on the internets. Got mine 3 weeks ago and almost have it ready to go. After getting my ancient TM out of storage its not worth repairing...

Save that old TM & modify it to be a rudder, it makes a big difference when you have the working TM in the front.  I believe there are a few posts about how different folks converted old TM's into rudders.  I cut off the old motor housing & used a Bullnose Rudder (https://www.fishntech.com/bullnose_rudder.html) in its place, it works like a charm.

Another new guy here. Just finished with my bow mount for my Motor Guide X3. Will use same unit on my jon boat so it’s easily removable. No need to buy a quick release bracket. Two holes were drilled in Motorguide base and then threaded. Screw in the bolts and they are now studs. Simply drop onto the new mount and secure with wing nuts.

First time welding, so go easy on my welds ?

Wow, that looks awesome. I've been brainstorming on how to put a bow mounted trolling motor on my raider.  Actually thought about getting the Motorguide Bulldog but kind of hesitant on that.  Do you use your boat by yourself?  The bracket is nice but looks pretty big.

Haha, actually my good friend fabricated the bracket. I imagine if there was enough interest he might consider making up a batch.

The bracket looks bigger than it is, especially in that one picture.  I plan on fishing solo and with a partner at times. Still figuring out how I want my seat set up. I want to go with a power pedestal so I can stand or sit.

1 or 2 batteries? I'm adding a fish finder and not sure if I should use the deep cycle main battery to operate fish finder and trolling motor...traxxis 55...or use a separate f f battery. The main battery has never gone below 2/3rds charge after 4-5 hrs of stop and go fishing, not sure of the amp draw of f f...Thanks for some input.

Another newbie on this thread....

I bought an old Pelican....the model before they came up with the Bass Raider moniker, I believe.   Bought it from a fellow that made numerous modifications electrically.   I love this little boat, but it must be 15 years old and the paint is pealing badly.  (new ones I've seen don't look painted at all).

Any suggestions for how to re-paint the craft?   Would I need to fully strip all excess before painting?    What kind of paint would be required?   Any suggestions?

Posted

just researched....I must have an original Bass Raider from 2006....somebody painted over all of the decals.     Still curious about suggestions re re-painting...kind of paint, prep needed.

So ended up with a 31 group battery, that paired with my endura 40 TM it scoots across the water good. Did find out not to try and load this on a steep boat ramp, most areas ill go will have bank access. Good test run to figure out loading configuration. AahubRd.jpgzsCjyTd.jpg

Hello everyone, been awhile...been busy with life.

I still have my Bass Raider.

Anyone located on the Eastern Shore near Salisbury Maryland?  Wanted to see if there were any Bass Raider owners near me.

Good to see people still posting about these boats.  They are great!
