Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?

Nice. I wouldn't mind it but I'm not sure I'd get the value out of it. Not many 5hp or less used are showing up locally.

I have 55 lb thrust MK in back & 30 up front for trolling. I want to add a big foot switch to the front TM. Have a cheap Lowrance Hook3x. I want to add rod holders and carpeted floor.

Ive also got a 40 lb thrust minn kota I switch between my jon and bass hunter.

It does great on small water bodies. It even lifts the front out of the water so if Im alone I put a heavy block in front to weigh it down and it goes a little faster.

Hey guys...I bought a used 8' Pelican and temporarily stored it upside down while waiting for title and registration. We had quit a rain storm and when I pulled the boat out to turn over and add the registration numbers, there was water inside. There is a drain plug on the end, but no matter how I tip/maneuver the boat, cant get the water out. Doesn't sound like much, but worries me.

 

Anyone have this experience?

Anywhere I can purchase 2 seat brackets for decent price. I bought used a Pelican Bass Raider 10E for cheap price, guy who sold it to me didn't have the seats for whatever reason. Pelicanpaddleboat.com wants $130 for two seat brackets, not even including swivel or the seats, lol. What a rip off, price gouging.

 

Academy has'em for $40, but not sold online...

 

I guess I could think about fabricating some up....  Swivels are cheap, like $6 each at Meijer, found seats for like $30...

 

Still gotta purchase a trolling motor, plan on going with Minn Kota 40 lb.

 

I missed my old Bass Raider, gonna use this for ponds and small inland lakes, while still use my Crestliner Super Hawk for St. Clair...

 

Any tips, let me know, far as I know Dunhams, Gander, Field Stream, do no carry these seat brackets at their stores. Pelican site says call their phone number, it was entirely in french or something. I guess I could just talk to someone that works at one of these stores, see if they can order them up through Pelican.

I see Bass Hunter company has seat base for $35 each and $65 for the seat, swivel, and base kit. What a rip off Pelicanpaddleboat.com is charging. Hopefully the Bass Hunter and Pelican uses the same measurements for the base bracket. Anyone know?

 

Going to call Pelican again, see what they charge directly...

Hahahah, lol, just talked to Pelican, they want $120 for a single seat bracket directly from their company, nothing else included. I guess I'll be buying a seat bracket from Bass Hunter if it fits or from Pelicanpaddleboat.com. That's brutal, lol...

From what I understand two deep cycle batteries will last a life time if you are the only one fishing.  For big water I would probably go with a bigger boat.  As far as stability...I'm a tall and big guy and as long as you are sure footed this boat is absolutely stable. Before this I had a SCANOE and as soon as I went to try it for the first time it was a big SCA NO. There is a guy on YouTube...his channel is youtubefishvids and he seems to go everywhere in his body of water, but he also has two batteries.

I just got my bass raider a few weeks ago and was wondering how exactly everyone was mounting things to their boat? I plan on mounting a fishfinder and a few rod holders this weekend and want it done correctly. May also put on a few cleats.

Yeah definitely try searching this thread, some of the photos have been dehosted since this thread was started so that kind of sucks, but honestly I wouldn't try using any screws and drilling holes into the boat. I've been using clamps of all sort to attach my GoPro to my Crestliner boat, I assume they could be used for fish finders as well. You could just drill out a whole on the clamp, then screw the fish finder to the clamp, then attach the clamp to a part of the boat securely. I know some would worry about knocking it lose, but some of these clamps are pretty darn strong and secure these days. Just a thought....

The patch repair kit is designed for these types of boats (HDPE...high density polyethylene).  Just an FYI for anyone needing the info.

Quick question. I bought a used bass raider yesterday and there was nothing wrong with the structure of the boat. It looked clean, apart from the pelican stickers coming off and being faded. When i got home i reminded myself to check the staples on the outside of the boat and they were rusted. Is this going to be a large issue for me?

i have had my pelican since 2000 it has been in all weather conditions and staples have a bit of rust on them but not bad . you can always change them but should be ok

i took an old battery box and mounted to the underneath of my seat it will hold 4 of the these crank bait boxes very handy for storage since thats probably the biggest issue with these small boats is storage

im just not sure if they have stored it outside and for how long is the question. when i asked they said it was stored correctly so i had to take them on their word, but the staples do have a decent bit of rust on them so.

ill take some pictures of them tonight and post them. Just need to figure this out so i dont get on the water and they break.

Good luck! I was in same 'boat' - friend gave me old Bantam 3X for free but had nothing with it. I bought my frames from basspro for $40 / ea then the wise folding seats from Amazon for $30 or so each and added detachable swivels for $20 each. The seats are going to cost me more than anything the way it's going. Bass pro doesn't seem to offer the frames anymore - maybe because they were cheaply made with the worst welding job I've ever seen. I think it's worth trying the bass hunter site - had I seen that when I was looking I would have gone with them, much cheaper. 

 

 

I'm upfitting my Bantam 3X now -  been going through this thread for a long time. Just got rid of an old Coleman Bass Raider style boat. As someone said, a lot of pictures have lost their hosting - anyone care to post/repost their boats and mods to consolidate?
