Ok, not sure about any of you down south, but i'm getting SICK of winter. Today is April 5th and it is SNOWING IN MINNESOTA!!! I'm desperate to get out and get the raider in the water and try out my mods from this winter. I may have to find a way to fit some type of icebreaker on the front if the ice doesn't melt soon.

Here in W Tenn it has been a fairly mild but LLOOOONNNNGGGGG winter.  We are still running 10-20 degrees below normal.  At least this weekend should be nice except for the 20plus mph wind that just seems to never stop blowing now for 2 years straight.

Hello, folks.  I was very happy to see such an active community of Bass Raider owners!  I bought one yesterday for $250 from a local guy who only had his about a month.  I suspect he got in a bind and needed some quick cash.  Not gloating at others' expense, but I was happy for a good deal.

At any rate, he didn't have the seat frames.  Apparently, he picked this up at G**** Mountain, and they discounted it because THEY had misplaced the frames.  The seller used it for a month without the seats and then sold it to me.

I'm just curious about what would be the best option for replacing the frames without spending the $40 each on them.  Any ideas about using wood?  Maybe some 1x1 for the channels tacked to a 2x8 or 2x10 for the seat?  Also, that would lower the center of gravity on the seats, making the passengers sit lower in the boat.  Is that a good or bad thing?

Thanks for any ideas!

Anyone else having a problem with the rear transom flexing? I am using an old (early 80's) 4HP Evenrude that runs like a champ. The problem I'm having is if I try to open it up full throttle, the transom bends and the prop ends up under the boat and not straight down. I didn't think 4HP would be too much for this boat but it looks like I may be too loaded up? I'm about 240 and my daughter is about 150...happens even when I'm alone. I took my trolling motor & battery off the front and its no different. Any ideas to strengthen it? Other than this, my daughter & I love the boat and have a great time with it.

Hey Scott,

I found this

on youtube its a video of a guy selling his pelican bass raider but in it he shows his transom which is reinforced with an aluminum cross bar and bracket arms attached to the boat pretty sturdy, I may do this or do a wood contraption that will fit over the transom and rest of the stern so i can reinforce and attach other things. I will be using a 3.5 hp and I know it will flex.

Side topic for rudders, I copied someone and cut a piece of 1/4" plexiglass about 4"x12" and drilled holes on the bottom and side and zip tied to my trolling motor which I place in the back, my reasoning is due to waves and wind I like to have as much weight in back to prevent water from coming over the bow. After I get my 3.5hp on I will move the trolling motor to the front and will work on designing a light weight splash skirt to prevent water from coming in the boat when moving at a good speed.

Going to pick up my new bass raider today then go to work on it.

Hey guys, I got the Pelican Bass Raider 10e today, new. I have many questions before I take my trip to trick it out:

1. Would a 30lb trolling motor work well as a primary motor? It would be my brother and I in it, combined 350lbs plus gear.

2. Is it better to mount the trolling motor on the front or back?

3. What is the best kind of anchor? Mushroom, river anchor, navy anchor or other?

4. Any advice on batteries?

thanks!

I use a 36lb thrust on mine it works good and have about the same weight, I put my motor on back so if I go alone its easier to use and as for my battery I use a wal mart deep cycle. hope you have alot of fun with your boat I love mine

i have a Basstender 11.3, which is similar to the Pelican. I use 2 trolling motors and the are both 40lb thrust and I use deep cycle battieries from Walmart also. I have no problem with either end of my boat, I use the motor in the back when I am traveling long distances and I sit in the front and use the front motor when fishing.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to mount it in front, but I can easily move it to the back if I want. Sounds like both work. Thanks!

Picked up a Bass raider 8 a couple of years ago not a 8e so no wires.  Used fish tape and ran wires through the hull.  Setup plugs front and rear for trolling motor and added a few footwell lights, and a cigarette lighter plug for the fishfinder.  Has been a great little boat for fishing the no wake lakes here in Omaha NE. Came across this thread yesterday and wished I would have found it sooner.  Nice to see im not the only one putting stuff on a boat like this.

Thought I'd post a few pictures how I store my Bass Raider, have not seen alot of people covering this.  I bought a bicycle lift at Harbor Freight.  Think it was like $7, I replaced the rope with a better quality nylon one.  Screwed the hooks to a 2x6 I trimmed to the right length to cradle the boat.  I tyed a few extra lengths of rope around to make sure nothing would end up on the ground if something failed.  It's been like this for two years so far without incident.  Hope this can help someone out there thats tired of walking around theirs in the winter or could use a little extra space in the garage.

Here is my basstender 11.3, it came with a livewell and a bigle pump. The guy I bought it from built the deck with all kinds of compartments. It has 2 seperate batteries and a fishfinder for the front and one for the back.

Your boat looks nice, I am thinking of making a floor like that for mine to keep the fishing deck cleaner.

Anyone take a bass raider apart? I'm looking to split the top & bottom to lean it out and run wiring inside...Then I want to seal it up. I'm getting some leakage through the seam.

I ran wires in mine without taking it apart.  Just took some patience and time.  But from the looks of it it shouldn't be that hard to split the two halves.  I think everything is just pop rivited, I'd start at one end remove a few of the rivets and see if the two pieces are epoxied or sealed together.  If so i'd leave it.
