If you take the fuse out you will need to connect the wires with a butt connector. And I would also put some heat shrink tubing over it.  Great news, I just taped the wire back together and I'm good as new. It was getting dark when I paddled back last night, so I didn't really get a chance to look at it at when I got back. I think what maybe happened is I had tilted the boat on its side to hose it out, and when I did so, I think the edge of the boat crimped that wire and cut it right where the in-line fuse is taped in. I am surprised it worked at all, but I guess maybe when we were out on the water we bumped it and knocked it loose. Thanks Born 2 Fish for your reply. That’s great news. You should carry a extra fuse or two just in case you do blow one. Quote
jeffh129 Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 Can two people fish out of a Bass Hunter eight footer comfortably  ? I like that model cause it has the built in wheels and is the lightest of their three models. I’m 72 years old with very weak legs, so weight matters. Thanks Quote

Thanks The 8 foot boats are tight for two people. Remember that each of you are sitting 18" -24" from the bow & stern, which only leaves 4 to 5 feet for both of your seats and the space between you. If the 2nd fisherman is a kid under 10, it might not be a big deal, but two adults in an 8 foot boat is like 3 men in a tub.  I'd highly recommend the 10 ft models. 1 Quote
Kong1824 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 I just purchased a Bass Raider. I want to add some modifications/upgrades to the boat. What is the best fastener (screws, pop rivets, etc) to use? Quote

If you look through this thread, there is lots of discussion about that. I have seen where folks have used self tapping screws, rivets, rivnuts, and well nuts.  I have never read where any of those folks have had any issues.   I got my boat a couple months ago, and I am trying to resist the temptation to drill into it (other than adding a drain plug, which seems like a must-have to me). Good luck; these boats are a lot of fun. Guitarfish Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 I would have no qualms about drilling holes topside. But the previous owner of my BassHunter drilled holes in the back of the boat for the transducer and I have to be super careful not to bump it. I knocked it loose once and had to go to several different stores for the parts for the repair. Luckily I tore it loose on land.  I have seen reference to some kind of 2 part plastic epoxy that I will use if I have to repair it again. I will probably attach a plastic mounting plate over the holes. stlwx21 Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 What trailer do y'all recommend for a Pelican/Bass Hunter style boat if interstate travel is required? Â I see the Northern Tool 5x8 and then there are Jet Ski/PWC trailers. Â I'd need to trailer to be highway speed rated as I plan to travel with the boat. Quote

For higher speed just make sure you don't get small rims and tires. I have a small trailer that I built and put 8 inch rims I regret it and wish I would've just bought 12 inch. I can still drive 70mph with no problems  Quote
John St Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 I live on a small 9 acre lake. The banks are lined with riprap. I have cleared the riprap from an area just large enough for me to drag my bass raider in and out. Right now I just lay astroturf-type carpet over the dirt to drag the boat on, but I am trying to figure out how to avoid dragging the carpet around in the future. I have thought about laying sand or pea gravel. I am afraid the sand will get nasty and buggy, but then I am also afraid the pea gravel will scratch the hull over time. Any suggestions from this intelligent group? Quote
Guitarfish Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 No intelligence here, lol. The California delta is lined with rip rap in a lot of good launch areas.  I was always afraid I'd scratch a gouge in the plastic of my Basshunter.  The carpet sounds like a great idea. But like you said, heavy and bulky.  If the launch is permanent, I say mix it, more sand than gravel. You will get scratches but we all have them on our boats without serious issue. I put in where I could over the years and my hull shows it but it's still in fine shape. jeffh129 Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 If theft won’t be an issue, lay three or four pieces of pvc piping down and just slide the boat over the pvc. The pipe should be slightly longer than the boat is wide.Leave the pvc there for next time. If theft is an issue, just carry them along in your truck. Quote

I like the general idea! Maybe I could partially bury some 4-6 inch PVC and make it semi-permanent. It's on my property. What do you think? Quote

John St Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Christ2000, sorry you haven't gotten any replies. I live in a freshwater location so I'm unable to help. I do think somewhere on this thread, saltwater has been discussed. Maybe do a search for it. Quote

Good luck. Quote
smithco Posted January 3, 2021 Posted January 3, 2021 I'm thinking of buying a 10e. Does anyone know of someone or someplace that does the outfitting/mods? I'll need a trailer Quote
TheGoochinator Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 What mods do you want to do? Read this entire thread and watch the YouTube vids pertaining to the Bass Raider 10e. The mods are all DIY. You can do it. Â Here is a good trailer: https://www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-in-x-96-in-heavy-duty-folding-trailer-62648.html Quote
StillDoc Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 I have a brand new Endura C2 50, Minn Kota Battery Box, Interstate Batteries Deep Cycle 24DC 685 Marine Cranking Amp Battery and a Bass Raider 10e. After charging the battery over night, pressing the level button on the battery box showed full charge just before taking the boat out. With two people weighing a total of about 330#, going into a 5-10 mph wind on still lake water for about 20 minutes at full power, then maneuvering around for about 20 min on power level 1-3, the battery box showed red. We were still able to get back to the boat ramp on max power with no wind, but we assisted the motor by paddling. Upon return home, the battery box indicator was yellow - the second lowest while a volt meter reading was 11.9v.  I'm trying to reconcile the low reading on the battery box, but 11.9v on the volt meter and I'm concerned that the power drained so quickly. It seems that we should have been able to run at full power, drawing 50 amps, for 1.6 hours with a 12v DC marine battery rated at 81 amp hours.  What are your thoughts? Should I return the battery or the battery box? What is your experience with running a Minn Kota C2 50 (or 55 that draws the same amps)? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 24, 2021 Super User Posted January 24, 2021 Should have gone with a deep-cycle battery instead of a 'multi-purpose' one...those starting batteries drain quickly under a constant load. Also, lead-acid batteries don't like being drawn down to under 1/2 their AH rating. 1 Quote
StillDoc Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 MN Fisher, thank you for your reply, but as I mentioned in my post, this is a deep cycle marine battery. Should I get a different one? Quote
