Midnight Splash Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I have also mounted a Humminbird PiranhMax 170 w/ the transducer to the right rear hull. Screwed in with stainless screws and 5 minute epoxy to help keep the wet stuff out. I was planning on mounting my transducer on the same location this weekend on my raider 8. The guy at the marine store told me to use the 3M 4200 sealant. I bought that and put the boat in the garage to work on but now I'm having second thoughts about putting 3 screws through the transom. It just seems a little thin and I'm worried about it just stripping out. The transom will push in a little without much effort. Mine is a 2002 so I don't know how much they have changed them. Have you had any leaking problems so far? Also, I was wondering what ways you guys have run the transom wire under/over the side railing. I was wanting to put the fish finder up in the front and the transducer in the back. I have a separate small battery I can put up front to run the fish finder. My trolling motor is in the back. Pond fisher Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Simply judging from the number of views this topic has received, do you think there is any interest in these little BASS BOATS. Ken 1 Quote
BIG M Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I love mine and this is my second.  I just throw in the back of my truck and off to the lakes.  45lb thrust trolling motor and this baby will move.  Fishing two people is not the greatest from the 8ft boat. Quote

Fishing two people is not the greatest from the 8ft boat. i feel that i agree. i fished with my dad and he is not the most experienced guy at all, and it was kind of cramped, but overall, easy enough to do. the only other downside is the outboard motor size. i wish i could get an 8 or a 7hp on mine i saw on a youtube video that some guy had his bass raider TYPE BOAT that had the sides as rod lockers. it was pretty cool. it wasn't a pelican, but it was essentially the same style 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 14, 2011 Super User Posted February 14, 2011 I love mine and this is my second. I just throw in the back of my truck and off to the lakes. 45lb thrust trolling motor and this baby will move. Fishing two people is not the greatest from the 8ft boat. I agree. I have the 8E, I don't even consider it a 2 person boat. Then again I don't like having an extra person in my 17' Tracker either.......thats just me. I saw a few posts back it was asked how they handle rough water. Pick your spots..........they float very high in the water and any wind/wave action will blow you all over. I once took a wave over the bow that filled the entire boat with water, other than getting my gear/feet wet, it wasn't too bad, stayed afloat and actually didn't push the boat down in the water too far where I was worried about sinking. But it wasn't fun either. Quote
Midnight Splash Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I put my transducer on the back right pontoon on my 8(used 3m 4200). I have the trolling motor in the back. I put the fish finder up in the front/right. The fish finder will run off of the small hummingbird portable battery, while the trolling motor will run off a deep-cycle. I didn't want wires all over the floor of the boat so I ran them under the side railing with 1/4" nylon wire clips. The transducer wire was going to be too long for me since I didn't want any slack. Once I got the wire half way around the boat I just laid the wire along the railing all the way up to the fish finder mount. I had 5 more feet then I wanted so I doubled up the wire 30" and used 3/8" clips here to allow all three wires to fit inside one clip. I did make one change after I took these pictures. I adjusted where I brought the cable on top of the side railing in the front inside the U shaped indention. This way I wont bust the cable if the front of the boat hits something. Quote
dman Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 midnight splash, no leaks with that setup? Here is the rudder i just got: Quote
Red Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 That rudder is very similar to mine, but I made mine out of scrap metal and about 10 minutes worth of welding at work. They are great, they make a world of difference especially on windy days. 1 Quote
Midnight Splash Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Dman I just put it in the water last night for the first time since mounting the transducer. Everything worked great. Mine will be in the water 24/7 on the pond behind my house. I will give it a week or so and check it for water and report back. One thing I really liked was the Hummingbird portable battery was smaller then I thought and it fits nicely in the top compartment right next to where I mounted the fish finder. The battery is maybe 6" L x 3" W x 4" H. 1 Quote
DeanFishesNY Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Anyone know where I can find a seat bracket for the bass raider 10e? I'm sure the 8e uses the same seats. The bracket part of the seat snapped last year. The seat part is perfectly fine, just the bottom part that goes into that slot is snapped in half. So I need to buy one of those or a whole new seat if I have to, but I don't know where and how much would it cost? Quote
Red Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 http://www.pelicansport.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=28_25&products_id=76&osCsid=mqum8v873b2bf75jp2so8v8c12 There ya go, freakin expensive. If you can weld or know someone who can, I bet it would be a whole lot cheaper to go buy your own tubing and build it yourself. Midnight Splash Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 This? If so go to the pelican paddle boat website(not pelican sport). Click on your boat/parts/highlight boat and click go to parts. Quote
DeanFishesNY Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 d**n, they are a lot more expensive than I thought. It's still 65 on that other website. Maybe I'll try to get it welded or whoever is tagging along has to sit on a bucket if they want to sit. I normally just stand anyways Quote
Midnight Splash Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hey Dean you might want to try sending these guys an email. They say there seat tracks/frames fit other models and to contact them for the info. I think it will work and they are $40. I'm sure they can verify by email or phone if they are compatible with the Raider. I cant post a link so just google "bass hunter boat seat tracks". Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 d**n, they are a lot more expensive than I thought. It's still 65 on that other website. Midnight Splash Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I just pulled my boat out of the water to make a slight angle adjustment to the transducer. I checked it for water and not a drop has got in. The transom transducer mount has been submerged for six days. Looks like it will be good to go. Pond fisher Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Is there $300.00 differnce between the Pelican 10' and the Pond Prowler 10'? Ken Quote
BRIAN77703 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 great boats guys ! need to post my pelican on here. i have the predator 12. strange theres not a website dedicated to plastic bass boats. Quote

BRIAN77703 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 yea of course im going to put a trolling motor on her, but my main concern is all that white its blinding in the sun. how can i break up it. i tried gluing some carpet on it but it didnt stick. Quote
Midnight Splash Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Get you one of these motors for the back Brian. He says in the comments he only has it quarter throttle. ;D Quote
BRIAN77703 Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 yea that would be nice, but an outboard is far down the road, right now its main focused is getting it lake ready and a trailer would be amazing. Quote
