Was just putting it out there in general to everyone who thinks using silicone caulk only as a sealant will work. Just trying to help the group overall. Awesome! That's great, and I definitely don't want to "nay say" anything. Heck, I'm purely a noob... unfortunately I tend to be a very confident noob, which sometimes doesn't go well That's a great thing to know, and I certainly would've bought a more proper item had I known ahead of time, so thanks again for putting it in the thread! I would have to agree to use whatever is best near water lines and heck, anywhere really, but in my issue I think I'm going to be in very good shape. Near the waterline, I'd want to do the most proper thing possible as well! Cheers man. Quote
MrTightLInes Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 The Lowrance Hook 5 came and it's now installed. I installed the transducer to the trolling motor with the proper bracket, and I made a small spot to hold my battery for the sonar. There's a slow moving river that's open up here, that I may head out in tomorrow. Supposed to hit 50 degrees, so maybe I will even get a fish to bite. Mostly going to test out the raider now that I've added all the mods. Get used to the Lowrance and things of that nature. 3 Quote

WildmanWilson Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 So I just bought a used Bass Hunter EV and I've decided it's a horrible design. The seats slide on an aluminum rail and makes it nearly impossible to put them in.  I took a cutting wheel and cut the lip off one side and it's much easier now.  The part that I hate the most is there's no place to put rods. It has raised cup holders and storage that leaves no flat area and no lip on the outside to keep them from falling out. I was looking to put a  bungee cord on it to at least strap them down but they are all still stacked in a pile and get tangled once you try and use a different rod.  I think it's one piece molded design it very good but the engineering is horrible. If anyone has a better way to store the rods let me know. Otherwise I'm selling it. Quote
frosty Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 There's a couple videos on YouTube that show different rod holders. I guess you could make a small rod locker in the bottom but then you're going to sacrifice already minimal floor space. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 9, 2017 Super User Posted March 9, 2017 Sometimes I keep one rod on both sides railings.I keep extra rods in the bottom with them sticking up over the rails.Four rods is usually all I carry anyway. I love mine.I give up some space but it's more comfortable with the seats, compared to my jboat Quote

I am going to be going with some kind of tod strap/bungee strap system this year for a little extra safety though. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 9, 2017 Super User Posted March 9, 2017 Contrary to popular opinion, there are no Pelican Bass Raider owners out there. Â It would be easier to find a unicorn. Â It's a conspiracy. Â Conspiracy I tell ya. Â This one is fully decked out in camo for stealth. Â Â Â 7 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 10, 2017 Super User Posted March 10, 2017 Pictures can be misleading. Â By itself, you might possibly conclude that I am a Pelican Bass Raider owner. Â However, you would be wrong. Â That is my daughter's boat on a small pond that abuts her property. Â See, I am not a PBR owner. Â But, I do like it even though I use a paddle for propulsion. Â No need of anything more for a pond of about two acres. 1 Quote

I guess I'm not either, technically. My beautiful bride paid for it, so even though it's titled and registered under my name, I guess it her boat 1 Quote

I think I'm going to try some industrial self stick Velcro. Maybe cut some pvc pipes in half and put the Velcro around it so I don't have to put holes in it. I just used a small bungee cord from my seat bracket to the lip on the side of the boat.. Has worked very well and is quick and easy to swap out poles fast. 2 Quote
Lonnie D A Uptegrow Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Speaking of holes...when I reached out to Pelican about running wires through the hull of these boats and asked about the warranty in relation to putting holes in the boat to mount accessories they advised that putting any hole in the boat would void the warranty. Â Has anyone thought twice about mounting stuff to their boat due to the warranty? Â I have a bunch of stuff to mount and now I'm a bit timid to do so. I got 4 rod holders, 2 taco paddle clips and my Striker 4 base to mount somewhere. Â I got to get some pics up on what I'm working on...but first I need to figure out how to put a 24"x24" solar panel in a boat...lol. Have an idea but it means that I will only be able to use it when I'm the loan fisherman. Â When the son comes with me I'll have to leave it out. Â I got to figure out a trailer ground issue...one side works fine and the other is ifee at best. Â Tested my trailer hook up and thank goodness that is working...Gob bless the etrailer wiring harness. Quote

Last season I got over it and started drilling away on it. So far I mostly used rivits made by YAKGear to attach accessories to the boat. I even put in flush mount rod holders I had to drill a ***/4 holes for those. NO adverse affects to speak of so far. If I find my posts from last year I'll let you know what page they are on so you can check it out. This year I'm adding an LED light bar up front with remote control. I'll post pics when I get around to doing the project. I already have most of the parts 1 Quote
JaxBasser Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Been checking Craigslist for ages trying to find one of these. Seems like 90% of the people never have the titles and if they do they want near new prices for them. Tempted to just go to academy tomorrow and bite the bullet on a new one. Quote

Do it, you get warranty with brand new ones. And the peace of mind that there probably won't be anything wrong with it at least right off the bat. But even if there is, it'll be coveredby that warranty. I've seen so many used ones going for new or even higher than new prices myself. Got fairly lucky with my BassHound 9.4...used but great shape and had no mods done to it and got it for @ $450 (retail new is like $1100 for them). But had to go through a couple dozen or more high priced before I found this one. Quote

NCbassraider Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I have this Sun Dolphin Pro 120 on the way.  Should be here in a couple weeks and I can't wait to get out in it and review it.  If anyone else has the Pro 120 I would love to hear your thoughts on it.   I was going to keep my Pelican Predator 103 (also pictured) but the wife says it must go.  I was going to Craigslist it but if any Bass Resource members in the Charlotte, NC area are in need of a nice boat, please send me a PM and I will discuss a "friends and family" discount.   1 Quote

JaxBasser Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Took it out today. Caught a bunch of bass including a nice 4lber. Â Ran into a problem with the trolling motor though. It worked fine at first then just stopped. I got it to work again a couple of times by jiggling the wire and moving the motor around but nothing kept it working. 2 Quote
