WildmanWilson Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 By shallow I mean the height of the side walls. The Hunter looks like it rides much lower in the water. In pictures it looks like there's less above water. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 3, 2017 Super User Posted February 3, 2017 It may be lower than the raider but I have no problem with it. It is very buoyant even with all the weight in the front. It sits higher than my jon boat! It isnt best for a big water body though, although I was going directly into 15-20 mph winds with no problem. It handles waves better than you would think Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 3, 2017 Super User Posted February 3, 2017 mine is actually 9.5 feet long. Great little boat for small water bodies Quote
frosty Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Ok guys, my wonderful bride has given me the thumbs up for a bass raider 10e, we looked at them in a store tonight and she thinks the 12' Jon boat would be better. I noticed that it does look roomier, since we would occasionally bring our young (3) son with us. I think the bass raider will be much more stable, and it has almost 100 pounds more capacity. Anyone have experience with both that can offer some insight? Quote

Thank you, I assumed it would be. While I think the jon would have more potential for storage options, I think I'm going to stick with the 10e. 1 Quote

Anyone have any issues with the Bass Hunter being too shallow and having water come in? The Hunter is more expensive new and looks to be one piece rather than two with the Raider.  I've owned a 8' basshunter for over 30 years now,..Ive had 2 full grown guys on it with 2 batteries and 2 motors,... on windy days? I wouldnt recommend it as heavier waves will breach it with 2 anglers aboard. But on calm days? no problems at all, just a bit tight room wise.  When I fish alone even the waves from other boats and mildly windy days dont effect me at all, as long as I point it into the waves as one should anyways. I have never swamped, or sank it. Love that little rig. 3 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 5, 2017 Super User Posted February 5, 2017 I have the 9.5 bass hunter and a 12 foot jon boat. And love both.T o me,the hunter is more comfortable.I have the factory chairs but they support me well ( at 260 pounds )It is also cooler because youre up a little higher and it allows better air flow under the seat.Ive learned to just swivel around if you need something behind you.You can even fish facing sideways and still reach the trolling motor which I have on front. The hunter s very stable for being so small. The jon boat would be better for bigger water and you could put a bigger motor on it.It has more room but not much more. You could customize it to allow more room.I have fished many times in my jon with one other person and its fine.3 would be cramped on either boat, but a small child would work for a while with 2 adults .Esp. on the jon.I f possible, try sitting in both before you buy to see how much room youd have. I also have a 2 seater kayak that Im not overly crazy about. 3 Quote
Advantage Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I have a BassHound 9.4, which is more like a tri-hull than a twin pontoon type and it's very stable even with 2 people and gear. BassHound does make one a little bigger (the 10.4) which does have just that little extra room. 1 Quote
Bassin_0502 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Does anybody use the 40" x 48" Harbor Freight trailers for these boats? I know several of you have posted that you use HF trailers, but I'm curious how well the 48" ones work. Seem like they would be too short for a 10 foot boat? Quote
frosty Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Well I'm joining the plastic boat club. Picked up a 10E today at dicks sporting goods. I'm looking at a 40lb thrust trolling motor. I've got plans to make a small box to hold about 10 +/- 3700 series boxes that will sit under the back seat, and I picked up a small Rubbermaid tote that will go under the front seat to keep my soft plastics in. I'll post pics when I get the box all done. 2 Quote
slimbo85 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 so i grabbed the sun dolphin pro 102 and was just wondering what is the best way to mount the fish finder?  thanks guys Quote

(which really helps)   Just plug them in and done.   This is the deal!    My basshunter came with thru hull wiring from the factory,. I just attached one of these connecters on the front hull wire, and the trolling motor,..and another connector for the back hull wire, and the battery. Quick easy clean connections both up front and in the back,...  I used the clamp on posts for this battery so the wingnut terminals are open for me to attach it inline 24 volt on my tracker. 1 Quote
WildmanWilson Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 So I've seen guys make a rudder and put the fish finder transducer on the bottom? Seems it would be a good chance to break it off. Anyone run into this problem? Is it better not to incorporate it with the rudder? By the way, I did end up buying a 9.5 ft bass hunter. Just working on primping it out now. Hope I'm not being a pest with the questions. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 21, 2017 Super User Posted February 21, 2017 I looked into  getting a rudder for mine but haven't yet. I put a heavy piece of concrete in the back to weigh it down ,and moved the battery back to about halfway.I sit in the front and have the trolling motor up front. If someone goes with me it also weighs down the back and there is no problem steering . It will steer fine as long as the back is weighed down some.  Quote
Sheldon Williams Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hi guys, im new to the Bassraider "nation" (LOL). im interested in installing a Bimini top so that I can be out on the water without frying on those hot summer days. has anyone tried this before? Quote

Canam13 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hello all, i am going to buy a Harbour freight trailer (4x8 1195lb utility)for my 10e. I was wondering how everyone launches and loads thier boat? Have some ideas, but figured I would ask the folks that are doing it with that type of setup already. Driving a 07 sierra, so I doubt I'll be able to see the little boat/trailer while towing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!! Quote

Put your tailgate down if there's room, and you can attach a pole to the back corner of the trailer so you can see where it is in your mirror. Quote

I second the tailgate down suggestion. As far as launches go, I found it easiest to have a rope on the front of the boat, push it off the trailer and beach it or dock it while you pull your trailer out. Loading is the reverse when I'm alone. If I have a buddy, I throw him the rope and have him pull me up.  I don't go to many busy boat ramps so this application wouldn't work everywhere. having an outboard on the back would make loading/unloading much easier, it's on my list of to-do's. Quote

frosty Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 So what are you guys using for rod storage? I've seen a few on YouTube that have a top on them to hold the rods securely. I'm concerned my 3 year old will think throwing my rods in the water will be a good idea! Quote

Tommy X Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 A friend and I are going to set up the BR for night fishing, light bar and LED's. I want a slick install without wires hanging about. Has anyone taken a BR apart? Take the top half off, I mean. I would like to know what to expect. If I screw this up I won't have a boat this season. We're both mechanically inclined. Can we break anything? I have mounted things to the boat and drilled into it so far, without a problem Quote

If I remember, its stapled together at the seems. I've also read that folks have just fished their own wiring through and around most of the inner parts of the hull. With the self stick auto LED's out now, should be fairly easy once the wiring is run. Post a pic when done, love to see it.
