This!

Chet Punisher it sounds like you just need to add a rudder to keep the backend from swinging around.  That is what most people have done and it is a lot simpler and less expensive than putting another TC on the back.  Go back to the previous page in these posts and there is a good example shown there.

Good luck!

Chet- have to agree with Etex, look on the boards and make yourself some kind of rudder. I Have a  54lb TM up front and my optima blue top battery in the back. With just me up front (220lbs) no problems with the rudder, boat tracks dead straight. Without it, almost unfishable. Even with my buddy (240lbs)in the back to even out the weight, I find the boat way to hard to navigate around without the rudder.

my 2 cents

Got the raider out today. Worked awesome. No bites, but bats OK, no one was catching anything.  I have trolling motor set up on the bow and had a really really hard time pulling forward, back end wanted to swing put every time. There was hardly any wind. Do most people have their raider set up this way? I ended up using reverse and pushing going backwards. Any suggestions?

my boy loved it. I need to get one of those seat raisers from Walmart...

Chet mine has been working really well.  It is cheap...12 bucks?  Accounts for submerged rocks/trees etc with the rudder being mounted on a hinge.  The whole thing just lifts off when I dont need it there.  Just make sure you have something with downward pressure (I use a bungee) because when you make sharp turns it will lift up without it....

What does the underside/mount look for this?

Looking to do the exact same idea for my portable transducer mount.

Think of an encyclopedia with no pages.  It just slides on from the top.  If you look at the picture with the boat in the water, I have two eye hole pins on the battery side that I bungee down to the deck.  That keeps it from lifting out of the water during turns.

And I'm planning on mounting transducer under the TM at the front of the boat where I'll be sitting the majority of the time.

Arcades?,..is your trolling motor mounted on a minn kota quick release mount welded to the boat? or to another trolling motor mount?

I had a welder custom make a mount that is attached to the trolling motor, but still allows me to remove it when I'm down fishing. Cost $120 but totally worth it.

I recently purchased a sun dolphin sportsman used. It came with some Jon boat seats. I bought the seat rail thing that you put the seat on, but the seats wouldn't fit. Any suggestions for some new seats? They have them on sun Dolphins website but they're ridiculously overpriced.

Do they make a power station (minn kota) for a walmart deep cycle battery in 29 series? Should I buy the 29 series one? Only see the power stations for 24 and 27.

You can probably find a box from someone other than 'Bird for a group 29, and modify it with connectors.  Sears has a reasonably priced one.

The 29 series will fit in the 27 minn Kota box. That's the set up I have.

That appears to have a swivel already?

I know, the problem is the seat won't fit on the seat bracket, it won't get narrow enough to tighten

Hopefully it works.  Post up a pic, if you get it!

There is a product call "Rivnuts" that you can use behind the plastic skin of the Bass Raider. Easy to install, sort of like the old Molly Bolts (which would probably work ok!).

I have a sun dolphin sportsman. The seats I have aren't the ones that come with the boat. When y'all lean back in your board, do you feel like you can fall backwards? That's what it feels like in my seats. Thanks

Can you get me the exact dimensions of the sportsman? I'm days away from getting one, but I think it's going to be a super, super tight fit in the back of my avalanche.  I can clear 48" wide, and 20" tall - but only in the center of the bed.  The top of the sides has a lip that sticks a few inches out to the center

That lip is at 18" high, and extends to the center for 5".  See attached picture

According to dicks sporting goods its 48 w 20 h 103 l. Do you want me to measure it? I'll do it next time I go fishing if you need me to

If the boat is a little wider than the pickup bed, just cut some lumber to fit and raise it up a few inches. It's strapped down anyway. I use a couple of 2x4's covered with carpet in the narrow bedliner of my '02 Ranger. Your bedliner has moldings for lumber. Slide the Bass Raider right up onto those and go!

Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some of my friends jon boats.
