Has anyone added a usb port to charge phones on their boat?  don't remember seeing any posts on that.  Do they make an adapter that plugs into the trolling motor receptacle?

I just make sure to fully charge my phone before I get on the water. And I'm usually to busy fishin to be on it much to drain the battery while on the water...with the exception of taking pics of big uns! Lol

Wow, just read all 88 pages of this awesome forum.

Just picked up a new to me BassHound10.2(sundolphin)off of Facebook less than 30 days ago. I really love all the mods you all have done.

Attached a pic of my steal, paid 200 including a trailer.!!

need some tips from those of you with trailers. How are you loading your boat on the trailer when you are by yourself? It took me over 40 minutes to get it positioned right on my trailer.  With my TM on the front, I can't seem to get enough speed to get it up on the trailer far enough to winch it down.  Obviously if I was with someone, they could just throw me a rope and pull me up. Any tips??URL]

I have a Basshound 9.4. Until I can get the MG Bulldog I've got a 50lb thrust Minnkota but I just put it on the back transom instead of the front one. With 50lbs of thrust I just get a good run at the ramp or bank and when I'm get close I raise it up/tilt it up so it doesn't drag bottom when I beach it. Then I get out from the front, drag it up a few more feet, unload everything so it's lighter, lift and pull front onto my trailer, then go around to the back and push it rest of the way in, lift up gate/ramp and lock it then strap it down. Also, I put a 4'x8' sheet of plywood on the deck of the trailer since it's the metal grate type of trailer and laid two 4"x4"x8' on the plywood so they lay longwise in between the 3 chines of the trihull for support when I strap it down. I'm also going to get some carpet and hammertack it to the plywood and 4x4's so that the boat will slide/glide on even easier and without much friction/wear on the bottom of the boat.

MInnkota also make one like this with 2 cigarette lighter type power sources. You can get usb adapters for those at any convenience store. Its on my list for next years mods so I can power a go pro from it all day

Do you think the Minn Kota one is the better unit? It would have one 12v female for whatever, and another 12v female you could stick in a male 12v thingy that has 2 USB ports?

Got the boat registered today, will probably get license in the morning and a trolling motor Saturday. If it all works out I will be in the water this weekend, if so I will take a few pics. Thanks everyone for awesome ideas

Say, I have a trailer like that. Did you have to do anything with the wheel hubs, or change them out to Buddy bearings or such? Do you submerge the wheels and not worry?

Can you post a pic of the rope/hook or did it not work?

It did not work, I am picking up my new load rite trailer next Wednesday. I was lucky the last time I took the boat out. Someone was there to give me a hand. the tailgate had to be close to 4 ft off the ground at the lake! That was it, I pleaded my case to the wife and started searching for a trailer. The owner of the trailer dealership was great. I gave him the dimensions of the bottom of the boat and a pic and they are configuring the trailer for the BR so it should be ready to fish when I pick it up. its the smallest jet ski trailer Load Rite makes. the 1,000 pound capacity PWC trailer

I don't know which is better. I would just read some reviews and take the plunge, I guess

livemusic,

I didn't do anything with the wheel hubs, but now that you mention it, I should probably look into it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Look into 'buddy bearings.' That is what we always called them but I guess it should be 'bearing buddies,' lol.

Ok another question about trolling motor. I have found a motor guide r3 55lb TM brand new in the box for $100. Will a 36"shaft work fine for a 10ft bass raider?

You guys sure find some good deals! I think it will work fine, it is what I use on my old Bass Tracker that is 9.5' long.

The guy had it in Craigslist for $175 and I noticed he dropped the price twice this week so I text him and offered him $100. Turns out he just needed it out of his house lol Does anyone have any experience with motorguide r3 TM? I was going to go tomorrow and buy a Minn Kota at Academy, but $100 for this one brand new in the box seems like a great deal

Motorguides are just as good as Minnkota, I've always preferred them to be honest. I do have a Minnkota now on my Basshound and it's a good TM too {got an even better deal on it than you did...a buddy of mine gave it to me for free). It's hand control and a pain sometimes to miss fish cuz I'm jacking with it instead of setting the hook...but it was free! And will suffice until I can get a foot control Motorguide Bulldog.

I was just at Bass Pro Shop and I can't believe they don't sell any rudders for these types of boats.  Maybe I overlooked them.  I'd rather just buy one than make one.

Is this more or less effective than having a separate rudder on the rear?  I run my TM on the front.

Could not tell you as I don't run a rudder with my 10e even when using the TM up front. The foot control cables are long enough to allow me to sit aft so the boat balances well and the sponsons provide more than enough rudder effect.

I'd spend $100+ on a good deep cycle.

^^ This,  but don't forget to recharge battery when done using it. Letting it sit with a partial charge is one sure way to quickly reduce run time.

I took the Bass Raider out this past Saturday with my brother for an early morning trip. The top water action was awesome. We ended up fishing from 6:00 AM till 4:00 PM.

The Raider ready for action.

I used to fish a tone as a kid. My family owns a little cabin on this lake so I spent a lot of time exploring and fishing out here growing up, but I haven't been fishing for many years until recently. I have also never targeted bass specifically, so this has been quite an adventure. The Bass Raider is making it a lot of fun as well.

I started the morning out throwing a black buzz bait. I had never caught a fish on that bait, or the pole or reel that I was using. I had recently read about loosening the drag on your reel to help the reel last longer, so I did that after using the reel the last time (Curado). Well, I had forgot to tighten it up this morning.

The morning was quiet and beautiful. My brother was throwing a Rap, and I was tossing my buzz to docks and other cover on the shore. I gave my buzz a nice toss up next to rotting dock. Nothing. The spot looked it should be holding a fish seeing as it was on a bit of a point, so I tossed the lure again. Something was different this time; I couldn't get that buzz bait back to the surface. "Snagged", I thought. Darn. Then my pole began to shake a bit like it would if a fish were on, but it felt soft. I started reeling in a quickly as I could, but I wasn't pulling any line. I looked down at the spool on the Curado and it was going the wrong direction. Quickly I set the drag, then bam. The tip of the rod bent and the fight was on. I ended up pulling a nice 4 pounder which is my PB. He got the main hook as well as the trailer.

A little later I switched to a Hula Popper which is a lure I've never used. I killed on that bait, and it was a blast. I pulled this little guy which was my next biggest for the day.

It was a great day of fishing. We'll be headed out early this coming Saturday for some clear, deep lake smallie action.

Take care, everyone.

Is there any rough guidelines on how long a battery will run a 30lb TM?  I don't have a battery box with a meter yet, I have been out for well over 4 hours before, but I was thinking of an all day trip Sat. I won't run it all the time, but anyone have any experience.  Dual Purpose Exide battery from Academy.

I recently did some research and came up with these guidelines on battery drawdown: My 40 lb. thrust Minn Kota Endura draws about 5, 10, 15, 20, 40 amps on speeds 1-5. So my little 55 amp-hour battery will run about 3 hours at speed #4 before it falls well below 12 volts. A key thing is try not to run at max speed because that draws double the amps of the next lower speed. To make long runs, I start up slowly, work up to speed #5, then back off to #4. Otherwise, I run at 1 or 2 when fishing anyway, so the battery lasts the entire day. Be sure to charge it up when you get home. Also, use a fuse (carry extras!) or a re-settable circuit breaker on the red wire. The fuse will pop if you get stuck in weeds or rocks.

Does anyone know which through hull drain set up to use? I seen it on one of the pages where it was done, but no detail on what one works.

It's for the Pelican 10e
