Reyn Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Bought this on e-bay for around $20. It's unique in that the bottom of the paddle has an opening to use as a hand grip. This comes in handy for someone to pull you into shore or a dock. On the opposite end are two hooks in the handle. I use these to grip a sapling to pull me in to retrieve a lure in the branches and also to dislodge a stuck submerged lure. Quote
lilsweepr Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Got to try out the big foot today and what a game changer. The wind was blowing but I could still fish thanks to the switch. Now when it's windy I won't just be a guide running the motor. I like that i have it on the piece of carpeted wood cause i was able to move it to the side i was facing. The boy and I caught five. talked with someone else when we were leaving and they got skunked. I get tickled that i have the limited range but still catch as much or more than most of the big boats we talk to. Ā Iceman71, my FF performed fine. No problems at all. Ā Roll Tide!! pointhunter75, 6 more days 1 Quote

I loved using mine on Saturday. Just bummed I didn't get to use my FF. I'll get it ironed out this week so I can try it Saturday. Quote

Iceman- check to make sure that your FF splice (specifically the ground/black wire) is before the bigfoot switch in the wiring circuit. Sounds like it might be after the foot switch, which is why you are losing the FF while using the BG switch. lilsweepr - I'm with you, can't wait till college football starts.....GO BLUE ! 1 Quote
Canam13 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I thinking of adding a second TM to the stern of my raider-10e for when I go on bigger lakes. I will have to pull my rudder out then. Do I have to make some type of modified rudder and attach it to the rear TM, or will the rear TM act as a rudder? What kind of battery drain should I expect when making long runs with both motors on. currently have bow-30lbs MK, stern 30lb MK. Normal day of fishing a smaller lake, I start with 13.4 volts and have 12.6 when I get home on one TM. I usually fish 4-6 hours. Quote
wnspain Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I have a 54 for bow, 50 for stearn, separate batteries for each. No rudder required of you disperse weight properly, even when I go bow only. I've seen a few that have rudders but it's usually found on boats that are improperly balanced. Quote
pointhunter75 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I think two tms at once may pull too much current on one battery, not sure though. Maybe somebody else knows. Quote

Ok, so I checked my wiring and apparently the FF ground had come loose. So I secured the ground and it works perfectly now. So we are ready to go test out the complete setup now. Thanks guys for walking me through this cause I was really scratching my head at this. Happy Fishing. Quote

jitterbug127 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 One of mine fell out. The other is worn out Quote
jitterbug127 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 And recommendations to help protect the bottom of the boat? I put in in some places that are very rocky and scratch the boat Quote
jitterbug127 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Also are drain plugs a half inch? Quote
DaveVE Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I've been running my fish finder on a small 12v sealed battery and last night for kicks I tested it as a backup emergency battery for my trolling motor. It got me back to the ramp across an 80 acre lake. Quote
jitterbug127 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Anyone have advice on where I can get a rudder for back of boat? Quote
Pond fisher Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Build one from PVC.Ā Or what I have done is mount a piece of plexiglass to my trolling motor shaft.Ā I have a 28#Ā thrust on the front an a 45# thrust on the back (with the rudder). Quote
johnkn Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Greetings, I'm considering buying a Pelican 10e, I see them on the Dick's Sporting Goods web site but it won't allow be to check local stock.Ā Ā I can older through their website, pricing is $699 but shipping is $381!.Ā I'm in Maryland,Ā Ā looks like this is shipped from Canada.Ā Ā Anyone have suggestions on where to buy?Ā Ā I contacted Pelican and they suggested Dicks and Directboats.com which is out of stock.Ā Ā thanks Quote
Reyn Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 If I were you, I'd call my local Dick's store and see what they have in stock. I bought mine last year from my local Dick's store and paid half of what you would pay to have it shipped from Dicks.com. Seeing that the nice fishing weather in Maryland is almost over, maybe you should wait for a good sale price, or wait until next Spring. Quote
Kevin F Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Just bought a Pelican 10e and have been up all night reading this forum to get some ideals I have never owned a boat and was wondering if I would need to register it . I noticed that the boats I see in the pictures have a tag and numbers on the side. I asked the guy at Academy that sold me the boat , he seemed to think that since I was only using a trolling motor it was not nessary. Don't wanna go to the lake and get a ticket. I live in Dallas,Tx. I usually do not respond to forums and apologize if I am getting off subject.. Great site lots of good info here.... Quote

Don't believe what people tell you the common misconception here is that if it's electric or 9.9 HP or lower, you don't need to register it. That's false. Anything with a motor in florida needs registration on public water. The specific info is irrelevant to you, but don't just listen to what people around you say. Ask the DMV. 1 Quote
jitterbug127 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Do most of you guys run trolley motor on front or back of boat? Quote
pointhunter75 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Front for sure. You don't fish from the back of a boat when you can be in front with a clear view of approaching structure that holds fish and or obstacles. That makes as much sense as putting a tm on the back of a bass boat and fishing out of the back seat with nobody fishing in the front. Zero sense! Quote
Pond fisher Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I have a 45 on the back and a 28 on the front. Quote
