No Thanks I'll Bass Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Got my Big Foot switch installed today: Now i am ready for those windy days. How much was that? You just connect it to any trolling motor and then you can control with your foot? Hard to install? Quote
lilsweepr Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 How much was that? You just connect it to any trolling motor and then you can control with your foot? Hard to install? Got it for 21.99 + taxes from Bass Pro Shops. It installs on the negative wire of the trolling motor. Just a couple of butt splices and it's good to go. I used heat shrink to neaten it up a little. I mounted it to the carpeted board so it wouldn't move on me. It has the holes for screws. I remove my trolling motor after each trip so this gets moved along with the FF wires. I have a coworker who got one also and he is wanting me to install his after he saw the pic of mine. Haven't tried it out yet more than just sitting in boat on the trailer. Quote

Going to make up a little board for mine when I get home, good idea! Quote
pointhunter75 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 It's an on off switch. You set the handle on the speed you want and put your foot on it when you want to go. It also has a flip thing that locks it on if you want. Wal mart and academy also has them Quote
No Thanks I'll Bass Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Nice. Yea that would be helpful. Especially in windy conditions like I found myself in last time out. Spent more time controlling the motor than fishing. 1 Quote
Paintball Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I have been tossing around the idea of a Kayak, SUP or a Pelican bass raider 10e. I already own a MotorGuide R3 saltwater transom-mount trolling motor. Like the thought of a trolling motor to get back in if weather/wind gets bad. Curious if any of you have done any shallow marsh fishing in one of these little boats? Quote

Curious if any of you have done any shallow marsh fishing in one of these little boats? With my buddy and I in the boat( both of us are 230lbs) the boat was only sitting down in 8 inches of water. So a single guy should be able to navigate in very shallow marsh/back creeks. One of the great features of this boat is the places they can go. Trolling would be a must for the pelican. Haven't had to paddle mine(10e), but would imagine it can't be easy. Quote

I appreciate all the information you all have provided here. Quote
pointhunter75 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I kayak fish also. I like the raider better, much more room, better view since you're above the water. I can go 95% anywhere in the raider as the kayak Quote

The pelican is much more comfortable, you are able to stand while fishing also. I find standing and sitting up higher just leads to better casts and more ways to present baits to the bass. Love my little raider. 1 Quote

No Thanks I'll Bass Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I have paddled mine just to see how it would be in case and it is very easy to paddle as long as your paddle is long enough. Moves just fine. Quote

No Thanks I'll Bass Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Me either but it's really easy even with a loaded down boat and two people. Good workout! 1 Quote
No Thanks I'll Bass Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I have fished in shallow water and it does just fine. Not marsh though. I'm sure would do fine. They're extremely sturdy. I love it. Quote
Iceman71 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Finally got my floor installed and my Big Foot switch installed this week. Took it out this morning to try everything out, AWESOME. Gotta re-wire my Lawrance Fish Finder now cause I had it grounded through the trolling motor plug but when I hit the Bigfoot switch it shuts off. Now I have to decide if I want to add an additional battery for just the Fish Finder or run it off my regular battery. Any suggestions? Quote
Reyn Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I don't have any suggestions, but thanks for telling us about this. I never gave it any thought. Do you have the Big Foot connected before or after the FF connection? Quote

This made me go try out mine as I am not going till in the morning. Mine seems to work fine. How is yours spliced in? I spliced the FF in the splice with the trolling motor to the plug. The big foot switch is spliced separately up the negative side of the TM. Quote

Iceman71 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I have the FF spliced in at the trolling motor to the plug. When I activate the Bigfoot switch the FF turns off Quote
lilsweepr Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I took a pic since i have it in the carport ready to go. Where the splice goes to the FF it actually goes to a quick connect as i thought i might be disconnecting it after each trip which has not been the case. I have an inline 3 amp fuse on the line to the FF. Quote

lilsweepr Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I mounted the transducer to the trolling motor. Bought the mount at bass pro. Just using electrical tape on the shaft for the cord. Quote
pointhunter75 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I have the telescopic paddle from wal mart and it paddles fine. You should have one for emergencies. Roll tide lilsweepr!!! Quote
