Thanks chicken, it's 1/2" cpvc so very flexible. I was going to rig a spring loaded hinge in the pipe but have used it this way most of last summer and all of this summer. I've scraped it on bottom so many times and no problems. It flexes plenty. I drew a line with a sharpie on the pipe and carefully cut the slot with a circular saw for the plexiglass, which I bought at Lowes, it's precut. 8x12" I think.

I have a Minn kota power center battery box with the built in breaker, one day my fuse holder melted, I think it got bent and lost connection and arced. Luckily my sister was with me and was able to hold it just right till we got to the ramp. If you have a separate breaker I'd recommend cutting the factory inline fuse out to avoid this risk. And always have an emergency paddle. I have the little telescopic one from wal mart.

Which fuse holder melted? The one that is in line with the boats wiring or the one e. built into the battery box?

I purchased a Minn-Kotta trolling motor adjustable clamp, just like the one the comes with their trolling motors. I then cut a pvc pipe to desired length, slid it into the opening and attached a piece of plexiglass into a slot that I cut on the back side of the pipe. Drilled two holes and attached with screw bolts, lock washers and nuts.

I had thought about going this route also. I really did not think it would be this hard to find an old broken transom mount trolling motor but boy was i wrong. i am about ready to pull the trigger on the minn kota mount and do like cdemarse to make it "bounce" over objects.

For decoration purposes, does anyone know of a clear sealant that could be placed over stickers (much like the ones placed in vehicle windows - vinyl I think) that would keep them protected and embossed to the boat?

Took the boat out for the first time last night with the wife. We had a blast. I love the simplicity of this thing and caught some nice bass that pulled me around lol. The hardest part was loading it back in my truck. I'm thinking that using a cart to wheel the boat up to the level parking lot would actually be easier than me trying to load it on a ramp. All the weight wants to work against me when I get the front of the boat up on my tailgate.

Also, thanks Atomic for the step by step process. Funny thing is I got to gabbing with some other guys at the ramp and they all helped me unload the boat. This thing seems to peak everyone's interest.

Just got home from academy, could not be happier.

They had 1 bass raider 10e left (dark green) marked 549.00.

I asked if they had any sales or offers going on and the guy said this boat was on clearance because it was the old color, the new ones are the tan ones...

So I got my brand new BR10e for ... 279.00 !!!

I was floored to say the least -- happy happy happy.

Now to start the mods lol.

Since the Bass Raider 10e comes prewired front to back, is that just for trolling motor to battery or do the wires come in handy for anything else such as fish finders?

Im clueless on fishfinders and transducers, mounting etc....

My guess from reading descriptions of different ones would be that I can mount the part that does the sonar stuff (is that the transducer?) directly to the rear mount trolling motor so it is deep enough as long as the motor is in the water...

Im looking for a good solution that does not require me to drill holes.

Also is there a reccomended fish finder thats not more than say 150ish? I was looking at hummingbird but I really know nothing about them... I do know that when I go fishing I almost always catch nothing more than a sunburn.

Thanks :)

Here is a picture of what I commented on earlier.

Notice the spliced in wire to the trolling motor connection. My transducer is attached to the trolling motor. The extra wires, power and transducer cable, are still rolled up and stuffed into the rod holder behind the electronics. You can cut the power cable without harm but not the transducer cable. I chose to not cut anything in case i wanted to sell it later.

I do not travel with the electronics attached. I put them on at the ramp or side of pond and remove them before heading home.

Chicken, yes it was the factory inline fuse holder that melted. I highly recommend the power center. It has a built in resettable breaker, two 12v cigarette lighter style plugs for phone charging, black light, spotlight, etc. Also has a built in battery gauge for people whose tm doesn't have a built in gauge.

Come to think of it, my factory inline fuse melted also. Luckily I was with another buddy who was in his raider and happen to have and piece of wire and i used that to limp back. My son had to make sure it stayed attached.

I replaced that inline fuse with a flat inline fuse and have had no problems. The original round one had a problem with the rubber insulator early on, it had gotten ripped so i had to make sure it was still ok every fishing trip. no problems out of the flat style i have gone to. The fuse for the FF is the flat style also. lot easier to change also and they are enclosed to try to make them waterproofed.

I second the comment on the Minn Kota TM Power Center. At first I thought $60 for a battery box? No thanks. Then I read some comments on the unit so decided to research further...glad I did.  :wink2:

Just got my floor put down. 1/2 inch treated plywood, covered it with green indoor / outdoor carpet.
On the back you can see I left a small open spot, this functions to allow my small water pu*m*p to get further down inside the boat to suck more up.

Also you can see an eyehole screw attached to the wood floor. This will allow me to bungie tie my rudder down so it will not bounce out (I am making a rudder from pvc and a retractable oar).
Speaking of rudders, how far below the boat bottom should it hang?

I have replaced the 1st seat with a high back padded chair, and the 2nd I am working on, same thing but with a 7 inch riser.

Some of you might want to consider this self adhesive safty tape for the motor mount to help limit slippage. It is basically the same stuff on top of skateboards, it feels like rough sandpaper but has a sticky back on it.

Also if you have a wood floor, consider placing many eyehole screws around the edge out of your way but around the boat. This will give you many places to hook or tie onto such as anchors, bungie ties ect.

I have lots more to do but it will be time consuming I can already tell.

Just mounted a 9ft outdoor umbrella to the center of the boat. The base is a heavy castiron and strapped down with zip ties to 8 eyehole screws, It appears stable. I can stand up underneath it and still have plenty of head room. I doubt I would use it on a windy day, but for those calm scolding hot days... yeah baby.post-55345-0-90291300-1436734662_thumb.jpost-55345-0-00958700-1436734854_thumb.j

A lot of you have suggested the 7" riser pedestal for the seats. Does this make the boat more tippy?

Posted

Haha, yeah I'm 6'4 so I hear ya. I'm looking forward to using the riser to get my knees out of my face.

question.. just got my seat brackets in from academy sports. one of them is missing the black end cap on the footing. are these critical to keeping the bracket in the seat tracks? academy is telling me to contact pelican, just wondering if it's necessary.

Your weight really is what's going to keep them in the channels.  That black cap more or less gives a finished edge to the tubing.  You could contact them and see if they could mail one out to you or if the end of the tube is sharp wrap a couple of rounds of electrical tape on it.

The riser is a must unless you're short. I'm 6'2" and have no problem standing unless it's very wavy. Depends on your balance I guess. I've lost a couple of the rubber end caps, no big deal. Wal mart sells an attwood battery box similar to the Minn kota but it doesn't have an internal breaker or battery meter but it's cheaper for those who are stingy or can't afford the Mk one.

Just bought a new pelican bass raider 10E! Love the forum, tons of information. I was wondering if someone could clear up how the pre-wiring worked on the bass raider. If you look closely on the picture you can see the two wires. All I see is a black and red coming out from the side of the boat, how do I use this with my trolling motor?(still waiting on mine to come in)

It seems like it would be obvious, but I can't wrap my head around it.. Thanks in advance!

I have a Scamp and not a Bass Raider but my pre-wired setup should be similar. You attach the two cables you mentioned to your battery and then I have two metal posts up front that I attach my trolling motor cable clamps to.
