basshead1 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Hi guys! I just joined the forum today, but I have been reading this thread for a couple months now. I can proudly say that I picked up a Pelican Bass Raider 10E. It was on sale on Craigslist and a friend of mine went and picked it up for me. Anyways I bought it without having seen it. My friend looked it over before paying and made sure all was good and I couldn't be happier. I wasn't sure if it was 8 or 10 foot because of the photo, but I picked it up yesterday and saw that it was a 10E which is exactly what I was looking for. Long story short - I am ready to start working on this boat and get it ready for this season and with all the great ideas on this thread I don't think I could go wrong. I will post some pictures when I get a chance and likely ask you guys some questions along the way. I appreciate all your help. Thanks. Welcome to the club and the boards. You will not regret buying one. My kayak has been collecting dust since I got my Bass Raider. 1 Quote
basshead1 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 To drain the main hull of any water that splashes in or from rain. I am setting up my boat and will post a picture next week. Where are the pics? Quote
IndyWingmaster Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Thanks basshead1. Yeah I still want a kayak in the future, but maybe I will decide it can wait. Quote

Welcome aboard and I know you will enjoy your boat - one of the best inventions next to slice bread lol - can't wait to see your pictures - I love seeing different things people here have done to their boats. Gives me many ideas and helpful hints for my boat. Now if spring would finally show up here in Nebraska I can get my boat back on the water. Quote
IndyWingmaster Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I have plenty of ideas, now I just need the money, lol. 1 Quote

tseanw Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hello Everyone, my name is Tim. I own a 2003 Pelican Bass Raider 10e and i have had it for about 3 years. I'm also new to the form and it's cool to see all the new ideas people have figured out to do with their boats. Big thanks to tfultz for all his help with my many questions. Quote
tfultz Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 tseanw thank you! Im very proud of my Bass Raider. Put in a lot of work and hours to get it this way. Bass Resource is an awesom site. Proud to be a part of it! Hope every one gets as much enjoyment out of theirs as i do mine. Probably don't mean much but..thanks to you tube if you google Pelican Bass Raider 10e my boat will show up. If you go to google images my boat and a pic of my 8.5 lb large mouth showes up! Quote
tseanw Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I have tried to steer my boat with the trolling motor in the front. I don't have a rudder and it just not going to happen. I prefer it in the back where I seem to have better control of the boat. Quote
basshead1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Yup, a rudder is the way to go when no outboard is on the back. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I just called Dicks to order a 10e. I was told it was discontinued and replaced with the Electric. Does this make sense? The price was the same as the 10e and it is prewired for the trolling motor. Thanks. Quote
basshead1 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 The 10E is the electric version which means it is wired for the trolling motor. The 10 DLX has no electric and cheaper seats. And the Bass Raider 10 has no electric and folding seats. I am guessing the person at Dicks is talking about the 10 because it used to be listed on their site but no longer is. I got mine from Dicks during their free shipping boat sale which is due soon. The shipping took forever and their customer service is horrible to put it nicely. Quote
py8pointer Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 getting ready to put some slim in the boat. I love this boat 2 Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 You have confirmed my thoughts. The 10e is what I'm looking for. Thanks, basshead. 1 Quote

tfultz Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Been looking for a radio to top off my pelican. Think I've found one! Have pics later. Quote
basshead1 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Been looking for a radio to top off my pelican. Think I've found one! Have pics later. A marine radio or a stereo? I use my Ipod in an Eco extreme speaker thingamabob. It is pretty clear and I can even hear it over my little outboard. I use it in my kayak too and the thing has been soaked many times and never a problem. I sit it on top of my lunch bag so no vibrations alert the fish. And the batteries last forever. Quote
tfultz Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Basshead1 just reasearched the ecos. Those look pretty sweet! Really like the ecorox. Think it will meet my needs perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion! 1 Quote
basshead1 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Mine sounds pretty good with good bass and highs and lows. I use it in my garage, at the beach and even in the shower too and never had a problem in 2 years. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Is anybody using the Optima yellow top batteries on these. A Minn Kota Endura 45 is what I'll use for a motor. Quote
basshead1 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Is anybody using the Optima yellow top batteries on these. A Minn Kota Endura 45 is what I'll use for a motor. I use the walmart special size 29 everstart and this thing is it. I can not get the thing below 70% unless I camp out for a couple nights. http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Maxx-Group-Size-29-Marine-Battery/20531539 Quote
tfultz Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Does anyone else have "full replacement value" insurance on their pelican besides me? Also covers my tackle and rod/reels! Or have i went to far?! Lol LOVE my fishin!!! 1 Quote
basshead1 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I was thinking about doing a bass tournament in mine, which requires insurance but I did not insure it yet. Quote
